Bowl Betting Season Entering Final Stretch

On Tuesday the Russell Athletic Bowl delivers an interesting matchup when North Carolina faces Baylor. At online sportsbook 5Dimes the Bears opened as the betting favorite, but the line has moved in the Tar Heels' favor as they’re currently listed at -2.5.

With two of the highest-scoring teams in college football squaring off the total was set high at 69 points. UNC was a healthy 8-5 ATS this season, compared to a lousy 5-7 ATS mark for Baylor. The Tar Heels were also 7-3 this season when favored.

The game of the day on the Wednesday slate is USC versus Wisconsin in the Holiday Bowl. The Trojans are a 3.5-point favorite at online sportsbook Bovada despite losing two of their last three games.

USC is also a money-losing 1-4 ATS in their last five games. USC has won 15 straight against opponents from the Big Ten with an 11-4 ATS record. The Trojans are also 8-3 ATS in their last 11 bowl games, while Wisconsin has only one win in their last five bowls.

Thursday’s Peach Bowl is supposed to be a comfortable win for Florida State when they match up with Houston; the Seminoles are a 7-point favorite. Florida State has won five in a row ATS after posting an 8-4 ATS record this season. The Seminoles are also 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 bowl games, while Houston in 3-7 SU in their last 10.

Friday rings in the New Year with a stellar bowl slate starting with Notre Dame and Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl. The Buckeyes are a 6.5-point favorite as they look for their third straight win both SU and ATS over the Irish.

Notre Dame was the underdog only twice this season and although they lost both games they were 2-0 ATS. The Irish have also lost seven in a row SU in the month of January.

In the Citrus Bowl it’s Michigan against Florida with the Wolverines set as 4-point chalk. The favorite is a strong 6-1 SU and ATS in the last seven Citrus Bowls, but the Gators also boast a strong mark SU and ATS in their last six bowl games.

In the Rose Bowl Stanford and Iowa meet up in Pasadena with the Cardinal listed as a 6-point favorite. Stanford was a solid betting option this season at 9-4 ATS and they’re also 5-1 ATS in their last six bowl games. The favorite has won six of the last eight Rose Bowls.
