College Football Week 2 Top Odds Matchups

Week 2 in college football sees some interesting matchups for bettors as there are three gridiron battles between ranked teams on tap. There’s even an early-season Top 10 battle with the Oregon Ducks visiting the Michigan State Spartans.

Both the Ducks and Spartans started the season with wins last week, but neither could cover the spread. Oregon toppled Eastern Washington 61-42 as a 35-point favorite, and Michigan State defeated Western Michigan 37-24 as a 16-point favorite.

The oddmakers at 5Dimes are backing the Spartans as a 3.5-point home favorite. Michigan State heads into this one with a 13-1 mark SU in their last 14 at home, but they’ve had some trouble with Oregon lately. In their last three against the Spartans the Ducks are 3-0 ATS, including a 46-27 whipping as a 14-point favorite last September.

In another Top 25 matchup the oddsmakers are finding it too close to call when Oklahoma takes on Tennessee. At 5Dimes they have this one listed as a pick’em early on. Both sides are coming off big wins in Week 1, as the Sooners destroyed Akron 41-3 as 31-point chalk and the Volunteers took down Bowling Green 59-30 as a 22-point favorite.

Oklahoma has been on a roll in September the last couple of seasons with a 6-0 mark ATS and SU. However, they’ve had trouble with the SEC at 2-7 ATS in their last nine versus the conference. Last September they clashed in Oklahoma and the Sooners ran away with a 34-10 win as a 21-point favorite.

In the last ranked matchup on the schedule  LSU gets their season started against Mississippi State.

The Tigers’ game was postponed due to lightning last week, while the Bulldogs earned their spot in the rankings with a 34-16 win over Southern Miss as a 20-point favorite.

LSU has dominated this matchup for years with a 14-1 record SU in their last 15. However, they were 14-0 in their last 14 before the Bulldogs upset them 34-29 as a 7-point road underdog last season. Mississippi State will look for another upset as a 4-point home underdog this weekend.
