High-Powered Gridiron Matchups on Tap

It is Week 5 of the college football season and this week’s games feature four separate matchups between ranked teams. The NFL enters Week 4 with a few perennial playoff contenders like the Giants and the Steelers still looking for their first win, while Kansas City will be looking to double its win total from a year ago with a 4-0 start. The following is a brief look at some of the top matchups on this week’s board along with the current lines and odds as provided by 5Dimes.

The first big showdown on Saturday’s college slate of marquee football games has the No. 6 LSU Tigers on the road as the 3-point underdogs against the No. 9 Georgia Bulldogs in a key battle in the SEC starting at 3:30pm ET. Both teams are 1-0 in their respective divisions, with the Tigers 4-0 overall and the Bulldogs 2-1.

Another big matchup that kicks things off at 3:30pm ET is No. 14 Oklahoma on the road against No. 22 Notre Dame as a 3.5-point favorite on the betting lines. The Fighting Irish began their run to last season’s national title game with a 30-13 romp over the Sooners as 10.5-point road underdogs.

Going back to the SEC in a 6:30pm ET start, the No. 21 Mississippi Rebels will travel to Tuscaloosa to face the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide in college football betting action. The Tide have been opened as 16-point favorites for this SEC West Division clash.

The fourth game on Saturday’s schedule between ranked opponents has No. 23 Wisconsin on the road as a 7-point underdog against No. 4 Ohio State in a game that could ultimately decide the Big Ten Leaders Division champion.

Turning to Sunday’s NFL games, the big matchup in the early games has Seattle on the road against Houston in a battle of playoff teams from a year ago. The Seahawks have been opened as 3-point road favorites and come into this matchup with a perfect 3-0 record both SU and ATS.

The Sunday night game features another inter-conference clash as 3-0 New England squares off against 1-2 Atlanta in an 8:25pm ET start at the Georgia Dome. This game is just too close to call so it has been opened as a pick'em.

This is also the final week of baseball's regular-season schedule, and with the start of the playoffs right around the corner 5Dimes has listed the Los Angeles Dodgers as the +135 favorites on the odds to win the National League Pennant.
