NBA Finals Hit Floor With Heat Dogs

One of the biggest sports betting events of the year gets underway later this week with the start of the NBA Finals. It will be a rematch of last season’s best-of-seven instant-classic between the defending champion Miami Heat and the San Antonio Spurs.

The Heat have been opened as slight +110 underdogs on the Bovada betting odds to win this series despite the fact that they have won the last two NBA titles. The biggest reason is the fact that they will have to start this series on the road as 3.5-point underdogs for Thursday’s Game 1. The series has shifted to a 2-2-1-1-1 format this year with San Antonio holding the home-court advantage.

Miami has pretty much breezed through this year’s playoffs with a straight-up record of 12-3 and a 10-5 record against the spread. The total has gone OVER in 11 of the 15 games. The Heat swept Charlotte in four games, ousted Brooklyn in five, and in a rematch of last season’s Eastern Conference Finals they eliminated Indiana in six games.

San Antonio has been listed as a -130 favorite in the series betting odds to win their first NBA title since 2007 when they swept LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in four games. The Spurs’ road to a return trip to the NBA Finals started out a bit bumpy in a seven-game battle against Dallas. They returned to form in the second round by knocking out Portland in five games and this past Saturday they closed out Oklahoma City in six games with a thrilling 112-107 overtime victory as 3.5-point road underdogs on the Bovada closing NBA betting odds.

San Antonio is 12-6 SU this postseason with a 9-9 record ATS. The total has gone OVER in 10 of the 18 games.

One of the most intriguing series in MLB this week pits the red-hot Toronto Blue Jays on the road against Detroit for three games starting this Tuesday night in a battle between division leaders in the American League. The Blue Jays have a 3.5-game lead over New York in the AL East as of Sunday night’s action after winning 11 of their last 13 games. The Tigers have a 4.5-game lead over Chicago in the AL Central, but they have struggled to a 4-10 record in their last 14 outings.
