NFL Week 4 Betting Preview and Analysis

After a surprising upset win over the Arizona Cardinals last week can the Buffalo Bills make it two in a row this weekend when they take on the undefeated New England Patriots?

The Bills were a 4.5-point home underdog last week in their 33-18 win over the Cardinals. The early odds have them down as a 4-point road underdog against New England.

The Patriots rolled over the Houston Texans 27-0 as 1-point chalk last week to post their third consecutive win straight up and against the spread.

The trends in this matchup heavily favor New England. In their last nine versus the Bills the Patriots are 8-1 SU and 5-3-1 ATS. In their last 25 they’ve posted a 23-2 SU record with a 15-8-2 ATS mark. At home the Patriots also completely dominate Buffalo at 14-1 SU and 8-6-1 ATS in their last 15.

Buffalo’s win over Arizona last week doesn’t even bode well. In their last 15 games after winning as an underdog the Bills are a lousy 2-12-1 ATS.

In the AFC North this weekend the Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears both look to snap losing streaks when they meet up in Chicago.

Detroit has dropped their last two games SU and ATS after falling to the Green Bay Packers 34-27 as a 6.5-point underdog last week. Chicago was bested by the Dallas Cowboys 31-17 as a 6.5-point underdog to extend their SU and ATS losing streak to four games.

The Lions are a 3-point road favorite at online sportsbook Bovada and enter the matchup having won six in a row against Chicago while going 4-2 ATS. Being picked as a road favorite has been bad news for Detroit lately. In their last six games as a road favorite the Lions are 2-4 SU and 1-5 ATS.

Lastly, in the NFC West the struggling Arizona Cardinals play host to the suddenly surging Los Angeles Rams.

The Rams have won two in a row after topping the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 37-32 as a 3.5-point underdog last week. Arizona is 1-2 on the season after their upset loss to Buffalo last week.

The Cardinals are 1-3 SU in their last four games and 1-5 ATS in their last six. A date with Los Angeles may be what they need to turn things around; they are 4-2 SU and 5-1 ATS in their last six versus the Rams. At Bovada Arizona is an 8-point favorite.
