NFL Week 7 Slate: Best Betting Matchups

Following a big win over Arizona last week the Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping for more good results on Sunday when they face the struggling Kansas City Chiefs.

The Steelers took care of Arizona 25-13 as a 5.5-point underdog last week. Michael Vick, filling in for the injured Ben Roethlisberger, suffered his own injury, turning the QB duties to the third-stringer Landry Jones. He took the opportunity and ran with it, throwing a pair of touchdown passes to Martavis Bryant.

There are rumblings that Roethlisberger could be ready to return this week, but if he isn’t Jones will step in again. With Roethlisberger’s status up in the air the oddsmakers at online sportsbook 5Dimes pulled this game off the board after initially pegging the Steelers as a 2-point road favorite.

The Chiefs' downward spiral continued last week as they lost their fifth straight, 16-10 to Minnesota as a 3-point underdog. Not only has Kansas City dropped five in a row they also failed to cover the spread in all five losses.

In their last 10 regular-season games the Steelers are 8-2 SU and a solid 8-0-2 ATS. They’ve also paid bettors well on the road with a 5-1 record SU and a 4-1-1 ATS record in their last six road games. The Chiefs have only three wins in their last 12 games both SU and ATS.

The season of Super Bowl rematches continues Sunday when Indianapolis plays host to New Orleans. Over at online sportsbook Bovada the Colts are a 5-point home favorite.

The Saints are coming off a 31-21 upset win over Atlanta as a 3-point underdog. New Orleans is still looking for their first road win of the season, having dropped three in a row away from home with a 1-2 ATS record.

The Colts came up short last week against New England in a 34-27 loss as 8.5-point underdogs. Andrew Luck returned from a shoulder injury and had three touchdowns passes in one of his best performances of the season. Indy has thrived at home in recent years with a 6-3-1 ATS mark in their last 10.

The last time the Saints and Colts met (in 2011) New Orleans dominated in a 62-7 win as a 13.5-point favorite.

Rounding out our look at Week 7 the Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers collide in a near must-win if either hopes to contend for the AFC West division crown. The Chargers are -4 at 5Dimes.

Oakland lost to Denver 16-10 as a 4.5-point underdog last week despite scoring the only offensive touchdown in the game. The Chargers got over 500 yards passing from Philip Rivers last week, but it wasn’t enough in a 27-20 loss to Green Bay as a 10-point underdog.

San Diego went 2-0 SU against Oakland last season, but they were 0-2 ATS. In their last seven versus the Raiders San Diego owns a near perfect 6-1 record SU, but again they have a tough time covering the spread at 3-3.

That trend exists at home too, where San Diego is 10-2 SU and 6-6 ATS in their last 12 games against Oakland.
