Patriots Odds Favorite vs Dolphins Thursday

Are the resurgent Miami Dolphins for real? We may find out Thursday night when they get a real test in the undefeated New England Patriots in Foxboro. The oddsmakers at online sportsbook 5Dimes expect the Patriots to roll as a 7.5-point favorite.

Miami has looked like a different team since interim head coach Dan Campbell took over for Joe Philbin. Last week Miami posted their second straight win after hammering Houston 44-26 as a 4-point favorite. Ryan Tannehill dominated in the win with four touchdown passes and Lamar Miller rushed for 175 yards with a touchdown. Cameron Wake had two more sacks and now has six in his last two games.

The Patriots improved to 6-0 on the season last week with a 30-23 win over the Jets as a 7-point favorite. Tom Brady had a pair of touchdown passes and he also ran in for a score in the victory. Rob Gronkowski had a busy day with 11 receptions for 108 yards and a TD.

The Dolphins may have won their last two games both SU and ATS but they’re still a lame 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games. New England is on a nine-game winning streak during which they are 5-2-2 ATS. At home in Foxboro the Pats have been nearly unbeatable at 21-1 SU and 14-6-2 ATS in their last 22 games.

As they have against all of their AFC East rivals the Patriots have owned this matchup. In their last 10 games against Miami the Patriots are 8-2 SU and 6-3-1 ATS. At home the Patriots have won six in a row versus Miami with a 4-2 ATS record. Looking back even further New England is 12-2 SU and 9-5 ATS in their last 14 home games against the Dolphins.

With this being the final NFL game in the month of October there are also a few interesting October betting trends. New England is 20-0 SU in their last 20 home games in the month, while the Dolphins are 5-1 ATS in their last six games as road underdogs in October.

When the Patriots have played on Thursday night recently it hasn’t been a good night for bettors, as they are 0-3-1 ATS in their last four.
