Seahawks Favorites at Home Over the Packers

The Seattle Seahawks ride a seven-game winning streak into Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Green Bay Packers at CenturyLink Field, going 6-0-1 ATS in that span. The defending Super Bowl champs also already own a win this season over the Pack. If they can repeat their performance from Week 1 they'll find themselves just one more win away from joining the elite ranks of back-to-back Super Bowl champions.

As of early this week bettors who fancied Seattle could get the Seahawks at -7.5 at Bovada, while those who were leaning toward Green Bay could get the Packers at +8.5 at 5Dimes.

Seattle started just 3-3 this season, but is 10-1 SU and 8-3 ATS since then. Last week the top-seeded Seahawks, after enjoying a week off, dispatched Carolina in an NFC Divisional Round match 31-17, covering as 13-point favorites. Seattle only led the Panthers 14-10 at the half, but scored 17 straight points before allowing a meaningless Carolina score with two minutes to go.

The Seahawks have now held their last seven opponents to a total of 56 points.

Green Bay started just 1-2 this season, but is 12-2 SU and 9-5 ATS since then. Last week the Packers, with a little help, held off Dallas at Lambeau Field 26-21 in the other NFC Divisional Round bout. Green Bay led 7-0, later trailed 21-13, then scored the last two touchdowns of the game. The Packers also, as you might have heard, benefited from that bad possession rule on a Dallas non-touchdown with about four minutes to go.

But in having to come from behind, and in missing on a two-point conversion attempt after its last score, Green Bay lost that game ATS as a six-point favorite.

As mentioned above Sunday's game is a rematch of the first game of this NFL season, on a Thursday night back in September, a 36-16 Seahawks victory. Seattle outrushed the Packers 207-80, held a 33/27 time-of-possession advantage and didn't need any help from “Fail Mary.” They also rather easily covered the spread as five-point favorites.

As of early this week 5Dimes was listing the betting total on Sunday's game at 46.5, which was exactly the total on September’s meeting between these teams. That game played OVER when the Seahawks tacked on a meaningless touchdown with two minutes to go.  Both these teams have played five UNDER results in their last seven games.

Green Bay vs. Seattle is the 3:05pm ET kickoff on Sunday afternoon, with Indianapolis vs. New England to follow in the AFC Championship Game at 6:40pm ET. Tom Brady and the Patriots are listed as 6.5-point home favorites over Andrew Luck at the Colts in that one.
