Top Teams in Odds Spotlight in College Football and NFL

College football bettors will be keeping close tabs on the top five or six teams in the nation this season with the advent of the new College Football Playoff to determine this year’s national champion. The top three teams in both the AP Top 25 and the Coaches' Poll will kick off play in their respective conferences this Saturday, and 5Dimes has you covered with a complete set of betting odds.

Florida State won last season’s national title and through the first three weeks of this season it remains the top-ranked team in the nation. This Saturday it will face one of its toughest tests of the year with a home game against No. 22 Clemson. The Seminoles come into this ACC opener as 19.5-point favorites with the total set at 63 – but starting QB Jameis Winston will sit out the first half for disciplinary reasons.

Florida State is 0-2 ATS in its first two games this year, but it remains a profitable 14-5 ATS in its last 19 home games.

The Oregon Ducks will open play in the Pac-12 as prohibitive 23.5-point road favorites against Washington State with the total set at 75. The Ducks moved to No. 2 in the AP poll on the strength of their 46-27 come-from-behind victory over then-No. 7 Michigan State as 14-point favorites at home. Oregon has failed to cover in its last four games against the Cougars and the total has gone OVER in nine of their last 11 meetings.

Alabama has posted a 3-0 SU record in three games outside the SEC this season, but it could not cover the huge spread in any of the three contests. It will open conference play at home against rival Florida as a 14.5-point favorite with the total set at 52. The Crimson Tide are 7-1 ATS in their last eight games against the Gators and the total has stayed UNDER in four of the last five meetings in Tuscaloosa.

Turning to the NFL, the biggest game on tap in Week 3 is a Super Bowl XLVIII rematch between the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks. Things did not go well at all for Denver in that game, with a 43-8 loss as a 2-point favorite. This time around the game will be played in Seattle and 5Dimes has listed the Seahawks as 5-point favorites with a total line of 48.5. The Broncos are 12-2 SU in their last 14 road games and Seattle is 18-1 SU in its last 19 games at home.
