Las Vegas - Gotta take you over to Wembley Stadium for a pick on the England/Denmark Euro 2020 semi-final. The story and emotional tug of the Danes is hard to look away from. If you're not familiar, they lost one of their best players, Christian Eriksen, when he collapsed on the field in Copenhagen in the first half of Denmark's game against Finland on June 12. CPR was administered and his heart was restarted with a defibrillator as players shielded the medics. UEFA has invited Eriksen and the paramedics who helped save his life to attend the Euro 2020 final at Wembley on Sunday. Tough to bet against Denmark, but gotta roll with the Three Lions. Not just because it's a HOME GAME, which is pretty important. Not just because they'll have 60,000 (90,000 is capacity) fans at the stadium. But simply because England is the KING of BAGELS. The Lions have dished out seven bagels/clean sheets in their last seven games, outscoring the competition 10-0! My heart likes the Danes but my wallet is all over the English!
Early afternoon baseball and we're on the Rangers with Kyle Gibson over the Tigers.
On the ice, the mayor of Tampa, Jane Castor, got her wish. On Sunday, this is what she said. “Here’s what we would like,” Castor said in a news conference. “What we would like is for the Lightning to take it a little bit easy to give the Canadiens just the smallest break, allow them to win one at home, and then bring it back to the Amalie Arena for the final and the winning of the Stanley Cup.” YIKES! Of course the Lightning fought like junkyard dogs, but fell to Montreal 3-2 in OT on Monday night up in Canada. Jon Cooper's team does NOT wanna leave the country again, they just wanna see the guys with the white gloves take those cute little baby steps on to the ice with the Stanley Cup. HOME COOKIN' BAABBBEEE!!!
