The NOT so Big East!

Las Vegas - Like what Utah State coach Jerrod Calhoun has brought to the table in Logan the last two seasons. Calhoun jumped from Youngstown State to the Aggies and he has posted a 51-14 record. State closed the season on a 4-0 run, beating New Mexico (24-10), UNLV (18-16), Nevada (23-12) and San Diego State (22-11). Not too bad. And for those thinking that the Big East is on another level than the Mountain West, check this out. Respected site, Team Rankings, has the Big East at #5 with a 0.548 rating and the MWC at #6 with a 0.533 rating. Other than UConn and St. John's, the Big East really ain't that big. They had only four teams with a winning record, while the Mountain had nine teams over .500. Villanova did finish at 24-8, but we looked at who they beat and we were not impressed. Nova's last six wins have come against Xavier (15-18) twice, DePaul (16-16), Creighton (15-17), Butler (16-16) and Georgetown (16-18). Gotta throw a handful of chips at Utah State.
