UH OH & TWENTY ONE!!!

Las Vegas - Here we go again. For those who have been with me from the early days at the New York Daily News, you probably remember my infamous Orioles debacle back in 1988. For those that have just jumped into my world, here's what happened. So, being the GUY, your GUY, the genius, the man who walked on the third rail without getting electrocuted, I decided to go NUTZ with a baseball wager. This was the start of the 1988 season, and coming out of the gate, the Orioles had already lost 10 in a row. I advised my millions of readers to start with game 11 and double up until the Os won. I mean, CMON, how many games could they lose in a row? Fourteen? Fifteen? Sixteen? Seventeen? Well, it turned out that Baltimore lost 21, yes, TWENTY-ONE games in a row before posting a win. YIKES! If I had kept doubling till they won, the bet on the 22nd game woulda been $51,200. Didnt get that far because I swallowed my pride, and all my losses, after game 16. Yes, I was an idiot, and BOY did I hear it from the public. Was called every name in the book, some I didnt even know existed, with some VERY detailed threats to my well-being. Fast forward 38 years. And of course, tonight, I'm looking at the Mets, on an 11 game losing streak, over the Twins. New York sends Nolan McLean to the hill and the kid has actually been a bright spot. McLean's 1-1 record is not that impressive, but he is pitching to a 2.28 ERA and has 28 Ks in 23 innings of work. Not suggesting you go with the double up theory if they lose tonight, but hey, you make the call. Gimme the New Yorkers to bust the ugly yo eleven streak.

San Antonio has won eight of the last 10 straight up and has 6-4 record against the spread. They have gone Over four times and Under six times. Portland has won six of the last 10 and has 6-4 record against the spread. They have gone Over three times and Under seven times.
These teams have met four times this season. On November 26, the Spurs (+1) posted a 115-102 victory in Portland. The Over/Under total was 240.5 and went low. On January 3, the Blazers (+7.5) posted a 115-110 victory in San Antonio. The Over/Under total was 235.5 and went low again. On April 8, the Spurs (-3.5) posted a 112-101 victory in San Antonio. The Over/Under total was 229.5 and went low again. In the opening game of the playoff series on April 19, the Spurs (-12.5) posted a 111-98 victory in San Antonio. The Over/Under total was 223.5 and went low for the fourth straight time.
