Gimme the Leopards and a W on the track at Churchill Downs!
Las Vegas - More World Cup action today and we're looking at the DR Congo/Uzbekistan match. If you're into fashion, and we are, the Leopards from the Congo came to the Cup with the coolest outfits and luggage. Check it out on social media. And they also have a secondary nickname which ranks with the best ... Warriors of the Equator! These guys from Kinshasa have played two of the best teams at the Cup, fighting to a 1-1 draw with Portugal and losing 1-0 to Colombia. Now the Leopards get a squad from Uzbekistan that has been rocked so far by the same teams, losing 3-1 to Colombia and getting crushed by Portugal, 5-0. With a win, their first ever at any World Cup, DR Congo will advance to the round of 32. Feeling that this is the spot, or, the spots, so gimme the Leopards for a deposit into the Bank of Benj.
And if you like the ponies, my horse guy, Martin Calia, has some action at Churchill Downs. Hit us Marty.
We head back to Churchill Downs, Race #11, for the running of the $2 Million Stephen Foster Stakes. Its a short field of five running a mile and an eighth. The stage is set for the return of 2025 Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty, third place finisher Baeza, Magnitude who won the Dubai World Cup in March, and seven year old sensation White Abarrio. White Abarrio beat Sovereignty by two lengths in the Oaklawn Handicap in April but that was Sovereigntys first race in 2026. Betting wise its hard to make money in a short field, but you can make a case for four of the five entries. A front runner like Magnitude has a big advantage if he is allowed to set his own pace. I feel he will try that strategy, but White Abarrio will sit off his flank and pass him at the wire. Abarrio is trained by Saffie Joseph who has a 23% winning percentage and he employs top jock Irad Ortiz Jr. Also Abarrio has been working lights out at his home base of Gulfstream Park. Lets place a Benjamin on #2 White Abarrio and $20 exactas on #2 over the 3-4-5. Good luck!
