England v Argentina & early British Open action!
Las Vegas - Not gonna base this England/Argentina pick on past history, but for those just stepping on to the soccer pitch, you should know about one of the most famous games ever. 'The Hand of God,' or 'La Mano de Dios,' refers to the illegal opening goal by Argentina' Diego Maradona in the win over England in a quarter-final match at the 1986 World Cup. The goal stood because none of the referees could see Maradona using his left hand to score. Argentina won the match 21 on the way to winning their second World Cup. When asked whether he scored it legally, Maradona acknowledged he had illegally handled the ball, saying he considered the goal 'symbolic revenge' for the United Kingdom's defeat of Argentina in the 1982 Falklands War. WOW! So, 'symbolic' revenge for the Three Lions today?
Not so sure. But after all that, we're gonna go back to my money-maker, the 'both teams to score prop.' With a GORGEOUS 8-0 record for the Bank of Benj so far this tournament. England has scored in five of the six World Cup games with the exception of a 0-0 draw against Ghana. The Three Lions have allowed goals in four of the six Cup games. Argentina has scored in EVERY Cup game and has allowed goals in four of the six matches. You know I will be rooting like crazy for England, but my money will be spent on both teams to score.
Also got some golf from the Panda at the British Open starting tomorrow. Start out with a Top 10 finish for Robert MacIntyre who finished T3 at the Scottish Open and our research tells us that the Open always seems to be his best major. Matt Fitzpatrick also T3 last week has won three times this year and finished Top 5 last year at the Open. Gimme Fitz for a Top 10. Joaquin Niemann finished T7 at the U.S. Open and we're betting him for a Top 20 finish. And finally, using Tom Kim, who finished 3rd at the U.S. Open and just won the Scottish Open. We like him to finish in the Top 20 and if you have a few extra bucks, take him to win at 45/1 or 50/1 depending on where you shop!
