Pivetta is back but the bet is now just a tickle!

Las Vegas - On the MLB board, San Diego has a couple of reasons to keep punching. The Padres are sitting one game or half a game behind Arizona for the third Wild Card. And they'll be looking to avenge a three game sweep by the Nationals in Washington back in May. Home cooking should play a big part in this matchup because San Diego has a gorgeous 42-29 record at Petco Park. Randy Vasquez will take the ball for the Padres and he has not lost since coming off the DL (4-0) at the end of July. Gimme San Diego for the money.

Well, we can scratch that paragraph. The Padres will now give the ball to Nick Pivetta who has not pitched since April. Pivetta missed nearly five months with a flexor strain in his right elbow but was sharp in his final rehab start with Triple-A El Paso, posting seven Ks over 4 1/3 scoreless innings last Sunday. Washington will send out Jake Irvin and he hasn't won a game since May. Still on San Diego, but make it a tickle.
