Dancing up to Motown and expecting the Lions to roar!

Before we get to the Monday night pick, a quick word about yesterday's teaser. The first two legs of the teaser rolled in with no problem. Vanderbilt, +20 points after the teaser adjustment, lost 21-15 to Auburn, an easy cover. Then Georgia, -3.5 points after the teaser adjustment, blew the doors off Oklahoma, 41-13. So, we had Washington at a pick'em or -1 point against Minnesota after the teaser adjustment. The reason we selected a late game was because if the first two legs hit, we could middle the last game. Either win both sides or come away with a wash. We had an ELEVEN POINT MIDDLE after buying back Minnesota at +11. We would never, EVER pass up such a delicious middle. Minny wound up squeezing out a 27-24 win and we wound up with a wash. For those that did not play the middle, we'll do better next time.
Gonna dance up to Motown and rock the Lions over the Jets. Looked at all the relevant numbers and we have a relentless offense against a stingy defense. We're on relentless. Detroit QB Jared Goff has been on a heater the first two games, completing 52 of 77 passes (67%) for 533 yards with SIX TDs and ZERO INTs. His main target, Amon-Ra St. Brown, has grabbed 19 passes, four TDs and has gobbled up 209 yards. If you projected those numbers out to a full season, we're talking about 160 receptions and 34 or 35 TDs. Just saying. Goff will be facing a Jets squad that is #1 in total defense. Nice to see a #1 after your name, but take a look at who they played. New York beat Tennessee in the opener with the shaky second year QB Cam Ward at the controls for the Titans. Then it was Green Bay and QB Jordan Love who is off to an ugly start, completing just over 50% of his passes. So, not the two most talented QBs in the league. Now the #1 Jets D faces Goff who is a top 10 QB and the ONLY one in the NFL with SIX TDs and ZERO INTs. And we know that the Lions will have a few extra days rest which can't hurt. Still a bit concerned with Detroit's porous defense, so we'll pass on laying 6.5 points and buy the Lions on the money line.
ECKstatsMoving back to the NFL board, we can tell you that the Lions have a 1-1 straight up record after two weeks, with an 0-2 mark against the spread. They are 0-1 ATS at home and 1-1 as a favorite. Detroit has gone Over two times. The Jets have a 1-1 straight up record, with a 2-0 mark against the spread. They are 1-0 ATS on the road and 2-0 as an underdog. New York has gone Under twice.
