Las Vegas - Those that have followed me since my days at the New York Daily News all know that this guy, your guy, NEVER EVER bets on or against the Yankees. For those that have just taken a seat at the Ecks & Bacon table, lemme explain. Growing up Bronx, a couple of miles from the Stadium, my heart and soul is pinstripes. When they draw my blood, you can see the NY logo. So, obviously, will root and root hard for the NYY. Don't need the stress of money on top of that. My doctor sits next to me monitoring my blood pressure for every playoff series. He even came with me to the 2024 Yankees/Dodgers World Series. My kids took me to game one and most of you know the result. If you don't, just google Freddie 'Fxxxing' Freeman. The five missing letters are ... google Bucky Dent's middle name that every Red Sox fan calls him and you'll understand. That being said, we'll take a look at the other three series. The Astros/White Sox have not confirmed their starters, could be a bullpen game and the Cubs are on the fence as well. That leaves the Braves/Phillies matchup with Chris Sale against Jesus Luzardo. Sale has been really solid down the stretch, allowing just six earned runs over 28 innings for a 1.93 ERA. Two of those starts were against the Phillies, one win and one no decision which Atlanta won. Luzardo has been brilliant down the stretch with three straight wins, including a nine inning, 12 K complete game donut against the Phillies. However, Luzardo has only pitched one inning in the last 20 days because of inflammation in his left shoulder. Philly will be without one of the best hitters on the planet, Luis Arraez. And their two main bombers, Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper, were just 2 for 10 combined in the last two games against Sale. It's the opener, so it'll be ATL, but just a tickle.
ECKstatsBack on the MLB board for a look at each Wild Card Series. In the American League, the Yankees won seven  games and the Red Sox six in the head-to-head matchup. The Astros won five games and the White Sox just two in the head-to-head matchup. In the National League, the Braves won nine games and the Phillies four in the head-to-head matchup. The Cubs won five games and the Padres just one in the head-to head matchup.
