Kinetic energy for the money!
Las Vegas - Looking at the NLCS tonight with Milwaukee and Jacob Misiorowski opening up against the Dodgers and Tarik Skubal. What a delicious matchup. Obviously, you need some background and we have the numbers. First, Misiorowski, the lock for Cy Young this season. Lemme take you back to last season's NLCS in Los Angeles where the Miz allowed only three hits and one earned run over five innings with nine Ks. He did take the loss. During the regular season, Miz faced the Dodgers just once, back in August, and posted a W, allowing only one earned run over six innings with six Ks. The other arm, two time Cy Young Award winner Skubal, has not lost a game since the end of August (6-0) and faced the Brewers twice during the regular season. Skubal faced the Brew Crew when he was with the Tigers, and allowed six hits and four earned runs over six innings with a no decision. Then in L.A with the Dodgers, Skubal pitched well, giving up three hits and one earned run over six innings, but wound up with the loss. Milwaukee was the best home team in the National League this season with a 55-26 record, so I'm leaning. The only worry is that Misiorowski has thrown just four innings over the last two weeks. Still gotta tickle the Brew Crew, but with a very light feather.
Moving over to the NFL, if you were on the Falcons at +4.5 points when they opened, CONGRATS! If not, are you ready to lay -3 or -3.5 with Atlanta? Well, two different teams, two different quarterbacks. The Falcons started Cooper Rush the first two games and wound up 0-2. Michael Penix returned for week three and the Falcs picked up two wins. Not only have they won twice, they have scored more points the last two weeks, 80, than any other NFL team. And Penix has been enormous, hitting on 73.3% of his passes for 479 yards. Then you have the Robinsons, Bijan (494 yards) and Brian (194 yards). This is a well balanced hungry team that will NOT have to deal with Baltimore's All-World QB, Lamar Jackson. Instead, Tyler Huntley will be under center and his numbers as a backup over the last six years and change have been just a bit above average. In case you are not an ornithologist, we can tell you that the Falcon is the fastest animal on earth, reaching diving speeds of up to 242 miles per hour. Ravens are bigger and heavier (Derrick Henry), but the Falcons pack a much more destructive kinetic strike (Penix & Bijan). Gimme kinetic for the money.
