It's a sports equinox baby!
Las Vegas - The World Series is back in Tampa where the Rays take the field looking at a ginormous 0-2 hole. Tampa will send Freddy Peralta to the hill and he has been rock solid in the playoffs. Peralta started three games, won two and allowed only two earned runs over 16 innings. My calculator tells me that's a gorgeous 1.13 ERA. If you have not followed Fast Freddy's career, we can tell you that he pitched for these Brewers from 2018 to 2025. He was traded to the Mets and spent three months in New York before getting traded to the Rays. Normally, we would look to throw some chips at Tampa, because they were tied for the best home record in MLB with the Brewers at 55-26. But we have two problems. Peralta started against Milwaukee back on July 20 when he was still with the Mets, and his old Brewer teammates showed NO mercy. Fast Freddy wasn't that fast and was SMOKED for eight hits and SEVEN earned runs in just five innings. Ouch. The other problem is Milwaukee starter Robert Gasser, who has allowed only one earned run over nine innings in two postseason starts. Gonna be a pass.
On the NFL board, with no Jalen Hurts and about 400 other injuries, the Eagles plus any number would not be on my bingo card. And the Cowboys are just straight up lousy with a 2-4 record. So of course, we're rolling to Prop City and taking Dallas TE Brevyn Spann-Ford to go Over 1.5 receptions. Aside from the fact that we love a guy with three names, Spann-Ford was top shelf last week against the Packers, grabbing four balls for 35 yards. Philly's defense is full of holes and they allowed the Panthers TE Tommy Tremble to snag four passes last week. So gimme BSP Over.
Just a quick skate on to the NHL ice tonight where we're gonna roll with the Oilers over the Red Wings. Edmonton was embarrassed on Saturday night at home against the Maple Leafs, getting squished 7-2. But with eight wins in the last 10 games, we gotta buy the Oil to bounce back with a dub.
