2018 College Football Championship Odds
The college football season kicks off in a month and as usual the Alabama Crimson Tide will enter the new season as the favorites to win the national championship.
Alabama captured their second national title in three years last season and they’re heavily favored to make it three in four this season. The latest College Football National Championship odds at the Bovada Sportsbook have the Crimson Tide listed as a +180 favorite.
Alabama is expected to have a fierce defense once again, but it actually may be their offense that propels them to another title this season. Tua Tagovailoa and Jalen Hurts give Nick Saban two prime options at quarterback and they’ll have a very talented bunch of receivers to rely on including DeVonta Smith and Jerry Jeudy. If the Alabama offense lives up to the hype they may want to start clearing some space in the trophy case.
While Alabama sits in their reserved spot atop the odds they’re followed by the usual suspects, the Clemson Tigers at +550, the Ohio State Buckeyes at +750, and the Georgia Bulldogs at +850.
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney may have a quarterback battle on his hands between incumbent Kelly Bryant and freshman Trevor Lawrence, but that may just mean a stronger offense for the Tigers. What has people really talking is the Tigers’ experienced defensive line stacked with veterans Dexter Lawrence, Christian Wilkins, Austin Bryant and Clelin Ferrell.
Haskins the New Quarterback for Ohio State
Ohio State will be making a change at quarterback this season with Dwayne Haskins taking over for the departed J.T. Barrett. That shouldn’t be a problem with Haskins’ talent and the fact that he has the likes of J.K. Dobbin and Mike Weber at running back to fall back on. The only thing that might stop Ohio State is a tough conference schedule and a neutral site matchup with the TCU Horned Frogs.
Georgia came up one win short of a national title last season after falling to Alabama 26-23 in the championship game. Quarterback Jake Fromm returns to lead the offense which also welcomes back running back D’Andre Swift. Georgia’s only real question mark is on defense where they lost eight starters.
No other schools are getting triple digit odds on the futures right now, with the Top 5 being rounded out by the Michigan Wolverines, Washington Huskies and Oklahoma Sooners all at +2000.
