2020 PGA Championship Betting Odds Preview

What is regularly the final major of the PGA Tour season is the first this year as golf’s best head to TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, California, for the PGA Championship.

This will be the first time the PGA Championship will be held at Harding Park. Last year at Bethpage Black, Brooks Koepka won his second consecutive PGA Championship. At Bovada Sportsbook, Koepka is a +950 co-favorite to make it three in a row this week after delivering one of his best performances of the season last week.

Koepka seeking third straight PGA Championship win

Also getting +950 odds is Justin Thomas. The 2017 PGA Championship winner won the WGC FedEx St. Jude Invitational last week. Thomas came from behind in the final round to shoot 13 under par, three strokes better than Koepka, Daniel Berger, Tom Lewis and Phil Mickelson, who all tied for second place.

Following Koepka and Thomas on the odds list at Bovada are Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy, all at +1200.

DeChambeau, who has finished in the top 10 in four of his last six tournaments, hasn’t had much luck at the PGA Championship in recent years and has missed the cut in the last two tournaments.

McIlroy hasn’t finished in top 10 since golf’s return

Rahm posted his first win of the season two weeks ago in the Memorial Tournament. His best career showing in the PGA Championship was tying for fourth place in 2017.

McIlroy is a two-time PGA Championship winner, in 2012 and 2014. McIlroy has been inconsistent since the tour returned from the COVID-19 hiatus, with no top-10 finishes.

The rest of the top 10 on the odds list at Bovada includes Dustin Johnson and Xander Schauffele at +1800 and Patrick Cantlay, Tiger Woods and Webb Simpson, all at +2500.

Tiger listed at +2500 on PGA Championship board

From that group, the most intriguing option for bettors and the only former PGA Championship winner is Woods. He’s won the PGA Championship four times in his illustrious career, with the last coming in 2007. Woods has only played in one tournament since the tour resumed play, tying for 40th place in the Memorial.

Other formed PGA Championship winners in this week’s field include Jason Day (+3300), Phil Mickelson (+10000), Jason Dufner (+25000), Keegan Bradley (+25000), Martin Kaymer (+25000) and Jimmy Walker (+50000).
