2022 World Series Futures Odds
Heading into the all-star break, the New York Yankees are now the favorites to win the World Series.
At Bovada Sportsbook, the Yankees lead the World Series futures odds at +300. That’s up from the +400 odds they were getting earlier this month when they were World Series co-favorites with the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers now trail the Yankees at +325.
Yankees slide past Dodgers in odds to win World Series
The Yankees entered the all-star break with an MLB-best 64-28 record. The only other team with 60 or more wins is the Dodgers, who are 60-30. New York is running away with the American League East with a 13-game lead on the second-place Tampa Bay Rays.
The Bronx Bombers have scored more runs than any other team in baseball and sit second in runs allowed, just behind the Dodgers. The Yankees have a step up on the competition to secure home-field advantage in the playoffs, which could be important as they’re 37-12 at home this season.
The Dodgers have a 10-game lead in the National League West and were red-hot heading into the all-star break with four straight wins and nine wins in their last 10. Los Angeles’ pitching staff boasts the best ERA and WHIP in baseball even though Walker Buehler has been limited to 12 starts due to a forearm injury that is expected to keep him out until at least August. Picking up the slack for Buehler have been Tony Gonsolin, Clayton Kershaw and Tyler Anderson, who are a combined 28-3 this season.
Astros, Mets, Braves round out top 5 on oddsboard
Rounding out the top five on the World Series futures board are the Houston Astros at +450, the New York Mets at +800 and the Atlanta Braves at +950.
Let’s focus on the Mets and Braves, who are battling it out for top spot in the NL East. The Mets’ lead in the division has shrunk to only 2.5 games over the Braves. The two teams will meet up eight times in August in what could be key series to determine the division champ.
The Mets will hope that ace Jacob deGrom will return before those important games, while the Braves will probably still be without second baseman Ozzie Albies, who is looking at a late August return from a broken foot.
Win streaks give Mariners, Orioles a big boost
The biggest risers on the World Series futures lately have been the Seattle Mariners and Baltimore Orioles. After winning 14 straight, the Mariners have jumped from +10000 to +4000 on the World Series odds. The Orioles, who won 10 in a row earlier this month, have seen their odds improve from +100000 to +20000. The O’s will get a chance to prove they’re for real when they return from the break with back-to-back series against the Yankees and the Rays at home.
The biggest fallers on the World Series odds lately have been the San Francisco Giants and the Los Angeles Angels. The Giants have dropped to +5000 from +2600 after starting the month of July by going 1-7. They’ve improved to 5-1 in their last six but still sit 12.5 games back of the Dodgers in the NL West. However, San Francisco is only a half-game back of the final NL wild-card spot.
The Angels continue to lose despite boasting Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani in their lineup. The Angels have fallen to +20000 on the World Series odds, down from +7000 in late June and +1800 in May. It looks like another wasted season for an Angels team that is 20.5 games back of Houston in the AL West, and 10.5 back of an AL wild-card spot.
