AFC South Futures Odds Preview

The oddsmakers believe a quarterback change will make a major difference for the Indianapolis Colts, who are listed as the preseason favorite in the odds to win the AFC South in 2022.

At Bovada Sportsbook, the Colts are -125 favorites to win the AFC South title this season.

Last year with Carson Wentz at quarterback, the Colts finished 9-8 and missed the playoffs. Wentz was shipped to Washington and replaced by veteran Matt Ryan.

Ryan inherits an immediate upgrade at running back in Jonathan Taylor, but Indianapolis currently lacks depth at wide receiver behind Michael Pittman Jr. Despite that, the addition of Ryan could be what the Colts need to win their first division title since 2014.

Defending AFC champs second in AFC South odds

Following the Colts on the AFC South odds at Bovada are the Tennessee Titans at +170. The Titans were 12-5 last season and won their second straight AFC South division title. Ryan Tannehill returns at QB and he’ll hope for a healthy campaign from running back Derrick Henry, who appeared in only eight games last season.

Tennessee retooled its receiving corps in the offseason after trading A.J. Brown and releasing Julio Jones. The Titans brought in wideout Robert Woods and tight end Austin Hooper, and used their first-round draft pick on Treylon Burks to hopefully negate the loss of Brown.

After Indianapolis and Tennessee, the AFC South odds rise quickly with the Jacksonville Jaguars at +700 and the Houston Texans at +3000.

Jags look for progress in Lawrence’s second year

Last season the Jaguars finished last in the division at 3-14 in QB Trevor Lawrence’s rookie campaign. Jacksonville is hoping new head coach Doug Pederson can point Lawrence in the right direction and begin a turnaround.

Running back Travis Etienne will make his NFL debut after missing all of last season due to a foot injury that required surgery. Jacksonville made several low-key acquisitions on offense in the offseason, including wide receivers Christian Kirk and Zay Jones and tight end Evan Engram.

Houston a distant fourth on AFC South oddsboard

The Houston Texans’ biggest offseason move was trading away Deshaun Watson, who didn’t play a single game last season. Davis Mills will be the starting QB again, which doesn’t offer much confidence in a team that won four games last season, especially since two of those victories came against Jacksonville. The Texans aren’t expected to improve much this season as their season win total prop OVER/UNDER was set at 4.5.
