Big Ben Looks to Reignite Steelers Offense as MNF Chalk
The Pittsburgh Steelers will look to keep pace in the highly-competitive AFC North title race with a victory against the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football. The 6-4 Steelers head to LP Field in Nashville as 7-point road favorites on the 5Dimes board, and the NFL betting odds for the total in the game have been set at 46.5.
Pittsburgh’s season has been anything but predictable with some stellar performances mixed in with some epic fails. After tearing things up in a three-game winning streak both straight-up and against the spread in which the offense posted a combined 124 points, Pittsburgh came up on the short end of a 20-13 loss to the lowly New York Jets this past Sunday as a 4.5-point road favorite. Overall, the Steelers are an even 5-5 against the spread this season with the total going OVER in six of the 10 games.
Tennessee has only really gone in one direction this season with just two SU victories in its first nine games and it has been almost as bad ATS with a record of 2-6-1. The total stayed UNDER in six of the nine games. The Titans' current SU losing streak reached three games with a 21-7 loss to Baltimore in Week 10 as 10.5-point road underdogs. The total stayed UNDER the closing 44.5-point betting line in that game.
During the Steelers' recent offensive explosion quarterback Ben Roethlisberger played at an extremely high level. In victories against Indianapolis and Baltimore alone he threw 12 touchdown passes, and against the Colts he rang up 522 yards through the air. He threw for 343 yards in last week’s loss to the Jets, but he doubled up his lone touchdown pass with two interceptions.
The Titans’ offense ranks as one of the worst in the league with just 308.7 total yards per game and a scoring average of just 16 points. Rookie quarterback Zach Mettenberger got the start last week against the Ravens and he played true to the part with 179 yards passing while completing fewer than 60 percent of his 27 attempts. He also tossed an interception and was sacked five times.
The Steelers have had their issues on the road against Tennessee in the past with just two SU wins in the last 10 meetings there. The total has gone OVER in five of their last six meetings at LP Field. Pittsburgh is 3-9 ATS in its last 12 games as an underdog on the road.
