Cards Favored Over Vikings on Thursday Night
We could be looking at a potential playoff preview when division leaders the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona Cardinals square off on Thursday Night Football.
The Cardinals enter this matchup on a six-game winning streak and not surprisingly they’re a 7.5-point home favorite at online sportsbook Bovada. Last week Arizona defeated St. Louis 27-3 as 3.5-point chalk. Carson Palmer passed for 356 yards with a pair of touchdowns and David Johnson rushed for 99 yards on 22 carries with a TD reception.
Minnesota is coming off a 38-7 blowout loss to Seattle as a 3-point underdog. The Vikings’ offense couldn’t get anything going in the loss and was held to 125 total yards and only nine first downs. Teddy Bridgewater passed for 118 yards with an interception and Adrian Peterson had only 18 rushing yards on eight carries. Minnesota’s only touchdown in the game came on a 101-yard kickoff return by Cordarrelle Patterson.
With last week’s loss the Vikings have dropped two of their last three games both SU and ATS. However on the road they’ve been a strong play all season with four straight wins SU and five wins in a row ATS. In their last 20 road games Minnesota is only 6-13-1 SU, but they’re 13-7 ATS.
The Cardinals are 4-1 SU in their last five at home, but they’ve lost three straight ATS. In their last 13 home games the Cards are a solid 11-2 SU and 8-5 ATS.
In the last seven matchups between the Cardinals and Vikings the favorite has been a big money-loser at 1-5-1 ATS. Minnesota has won their last three and five of their last six versus Arizona with a 3-2-1 ATS record.
One other trend that plays in the Vikings’ favor is their record as a road underdog. Minnesota is only 3-3 SU in their last six games as a road ‘dog, but they’re 6-0 ATS. In their last 20 games as a road underdog Minnesota is a profitable 13-7 ATS.
