CBB Wednesday Betting: ’Nova Seeks Rebound
The No. 4 Villanova Wildcats will look to rebound from an upset loss when they drop in on the Seton Hall Pirates on Wednesday night.
Villanova was a 7-point favorite at Bovada Sportsbook in its last game Saturday against the Creighton Bluejays but lost 89-83 in overtime. That dropped the Wildcats to 3-3 straight up and against the spread in their last six, with all three losses coming as the favorite.
Seton Hall has won three straight after upsetting the St. John’s Red Storm 81-74 as a 2.5-point underdog. At home the Pirates have been a tough bet lately at 3-6 ATS in their last nine.
The Wildcats and Pirates met up on February 4 and Villanova won handily 92-76 as a 12.5-point home favorite. The smart bet in this one might be to take the OVER on the total. Villanova is 9-1 OVER in its last 10, while Seton Hall has posted seven straight OVERs.
Sticking in the Big East, the No. 3 Xavier Musketeers are at home to the Providence Friars on Wednesday.
Xavier heads into this one 10-1 SU and 8-3 ATS in the last 11. At home this season the Musketeers are a near-perfect 16-1 SU and 11-6 ATS.
Providence is a lackluster 3-3 SU and 2-4 ATS in its last six. However, the last time the Friars faced Xavier on January 6, they delivered an 81-72 win as a 5.5-point home underdog.
In the last four between the Musketeers and the Friars at Xavier, the Musketeers are 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS.
Finishing off our look at the Wednesday night college basketball slate is an ACC matchup between the Florida State Seminoles and the No. 18 Clemson Tigers.
The Seminoles are coming off a 92-72 blowout loss to the N.C. State Wolfpack as a 1-point underdog. That was Florida State’s fifth straight loss ATS, during which the team is 2-3 SU.
Clemson is 1-3 SU and ATS in its last four but picked up a 75-67 win over the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets as a 10-point favorite last time out.
The Seminoles and Tigers met up on February 14 and Florida State won 81-79 as a 4.5-point favorite. The was the Seminoles’ fourth straight win over the Tigers, and in their last five road games against Clemson they are 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS.
