College Football Bowls Odds Preview
Bowl season continues this week with eight games on tap, starting with the Boca Raton Bowl between the Akron Zips and Florida Atlantic Owls on Tuesday.
At Bovada Sportsbook, the Owls are a 23-point favorite as they look to extend a nine-game winning streak. Akron was a smart bet to end the season with an 8-2 record against the spread in its last 10 games and a 6-3 ATS record as an underdog this season.
On Wednesday night it’s the Frisco Bowl with the Southern Methodist Mustangs facing the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs as a 5-point favorite. The Mustangs slumped to a 1-6 record ATS in their last seven games, while the Bulldogs have owned this matchup with a 3-1 record SU and ATS in four games against SMU.
On Thursday the Temple Owls are a 7-point favorite when they take on the Florida International Panthers in the Gasparilla Bowl. The favorite is 6-3 SU and 5-4 ATS in the last nine Gasparilla Bowls. The Owls finished the season 4-1 ATS in their last five, and the Panthers were 5-3 ATS as an underdog this season.
There are two bowl games on Friday, with the UAB Blazers taking on the Ohio Bobcats in the Bahamas Bowl and the Central Michigan Chippewas and Wyoming Cowboys meeting up in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl.
The Bobcats are a 7.5-point favorite versus the Blazers, but they’ve lost their last two games SU and ATS. UAB was a money-maker as an underdog this season at 6-2 ATS and they’re a strong 10-3-1 ATS in their last 14 overall.
The Famous Idaho Potato Bowl is being listed as a pick’em at Bovada Sportsbook. The Chippewas have won five straight both SU and ATS, while the Cowboys are looking to snap a short two-game losing streak SU and ATS.
On Saturday there are three bowl games, starting off with the Armed Forces Bowl between the San Diego State Aztecs and the Army Black Knights. The Aztecs are a 7-point favorite and have won their last four games SU and ATS. Army won the Armed Forces Bowl in 2010 but is 0-2 SU in its last two versus the Aztecs.
The Birmingham Bowl pits the USF Bulls against the Texas Tech Red Raiders as a 3-point favorite. The Bulls were a lame 4-6 ATS as a favorite this season and finished 1-4 ATS in their last five. The Red Raiders also slumped down the stretch with a 2-5 record SU and ATS in their last seven.
The Dollar General Bowl is last, and sees the Toledo Rockets face the Appalachian State Mountaineers as a 7.5-point favorite. These teams met up in last year’s Camellia Bowl and the Mountaineers won 31-28 as a 1.5-point favorite.
