College Football Saturday Bowls Preview
Bowl season officially kicks off on Saturday with a full slate of bowl games starting with the Independence Bowl featuring the California Golden Bears and the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
At the Bovada Sportsbook the Red Raiders are 2.5-point favorites. Texas Tech was 6-6 straight up and 5-7 against the spread this season. When favored they’re only 5-4 SU and 4-5 ATS in their last nine games. As bowl game favorites they’re 1-6 ATS in their last seven and they have lost their previous two appearances in the Independence Bowl.
California was 6-6 SU and ATS this season. They finished the regular season with three straight wins both SU and ATS, and as underdogs they’re 1-14 SU and 7-8 ATS in their last 15.
Texas Tech and California previously met up in the 2004 Holiday Bowl and the Red Raiders won 45-31 as 10.5-point underdogs.
New Mexico State favored in New Mexico Bowl
In the New Mexico Bowl the New Mexico State Aggies face the Fresno State Bulldogs as 3.5-point favorites.
New Mexico State was 10-4 SU and 11-3 ATS this season. They were 8-1 SU in their last nine games, and 10-1 ATS in their last 11. In their last five bowl games the Aggies are 4-0-1 SU.
Fresno State was 8-4 SU and 4-8 ATS this season. They finished the season with three straight losses both SU and ATS and they’re 1-7 ATS in their last eight. They’ve won their last four bowl games SU, but in three New Mexico Bowl appearances they’re 0-3 ATS.
Fresno State has dominated this matchup with a 7-1 SU record, but they haven’t been kind to bettors at 2-6 ATS.
UCLA the chalk against Boise State in LA Bowl
In the LA Bowl the UCLA Bruins face the Boise State Broncos as 2.5-point favorites.
UCLA was 7-5 SU and 5-7 ATS this season. They are 1-4 ATS in their last five and have been a strong UNDER play with six straight UNDER results and a 10-2 UNDER record this season. When favored the Bruins have lost three in a row SU and four straight ATS.
Boise State was 8-5 SU and 7-4-2 ATS this season. They have won four straight both SU and ATS, but as underdogs they’ve lost four in a row with a 1-2-1 ATS record. As a bowl game underdog the Broncos are 5-5 SU and 7-3 ATS in their last 10.
Miami-Ohio listed as the underdog in Cure Bowl
And in the Cure Bowl the Appalachian State Mountaineers face the Miami-Ohio RedHawks as 6-point favorites.
The Mountaineers were 8-5 SU and 6-6-1 ATS this season. That included going 5-1 SU and 4-2 ATS in their last six games. In their last seven bowl games they’re 6-1 SU and 4-3 ATS, and as a bowl game favorite they’ve won five straight.
The RedHawks were 11-2 SU and 10-3 ATS this season. They’ve won their last five games with a 4-1 ATS record. On the road Miami-Ohio has won six straight at 5-1 ATS. In their last five bowl games they’re a perfect 5-0 ATS.
