College Football Saturday Bowls Preview
College football delivers a busy Saturday of bowl games this weekend, starting with the Birmingham Bowl featuring the Troy Trojans and the Duke Blue Devils.
At the Bovada Sportsbook the Trojans are 7.5-point favorites. Troy was 11-2 straight up and 8-5 against the spread this season. They finished the regular season with 10 straight wins and an 8-2 ATS record. The Trojans have won their last five bowl games at 4-1 ATS, and they’re 8-1 OVER in their last nine bowl games.
Duke was 7-5 SU and 6-6 ATS this season. As an underdog they’ve lost four straight at 1-3 ATS and they’re 3-7 SU and 6-4 ATS in their last 10 as an underdog. In bowl games the Blue Devils have won six straight ATS.
In this matchup the Blue Devils have won the last two games SU but they’re 0-2 ATS.
Utes listed as favorites in the Las Vegas Bowl
In the Las Vegas Bowl the Utah Utes face the Northwestern Wildcats as 6.5-point favorites.
Utah was 8-4 SU and 6-5-1 ATS this season. They’ve been a disappointment on the road for bettors at 3-5-1 ATS in their last nine. When favored Utah has won 12 straight with a 7-4-1 ATS record.
Northwestern was 7-5 SU and 8-4 ATS this season. That includes winning six straight ATS to finish the regular season. As an underdog the Wildcats have won five straight ATS and as bowl game underdogs they’re 7-3 ATS in their last 10.
In the 2018 Holiday Bowl Northwestern defeated Utah 31-20 as a 6.5-point underdog.
Camellia Bowl features Arkansas State as chalk
In the Camellia Bowl the Arkansas State Red Wolves face the Northern Illinois Huskies as 2.5-point favorites.
Arkansas State was 6-6 SU and 6-5-1 ATS this season. They were 4-1 ATS in their last five games and when favored they’re 4-1 SU and 2-2-1 ATS in their last five.
Northern Illinois was 6-6 SU and 5-7 ATS this season. They were 1-4 ATS in their last five games. The Huskies have lost seven straight bowl games with a 1-6 ATS record, and as a bowl game underdog they’re 0-10 SU and 1-9 ATS.
In the 2012 GoDaddy Bowl Northern Illinois defeated Arkansas State 38-20 as a pick’em.
Coastal Carolina an underdog in the Hawaii Bowl
Finally, in the Hawaii Bowl the San Jose State Spartans face the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers as 11-point favorites.
San Jose State was 7-5 SU and 8-3-1 ATS this season. They finished the regular season with six straight wins and a 5-1 ATS record. In their last five bowl games the Spartans are 3-2 SU and ATS, with both losses coming as the favorite.
Coastal Carolina was 7-5 SU and 8-4 ATS this season. As an underdog they’re 4-1 SU and ATS in their last five games. In three bowl games appearances the Chanticleers are 1-2 SU and 0-3 ATS.
