College Football Week 12 Betting

Betting the Boise State Broncos has been like participating on that old reality series, Fear Factor. Each week, books post BSU as a huge favorite, testing handicappers’ guts to see just how many points they will give before fading the Broncos.

Those that have stuck to their guns and wagered on Boise State week in and week out are planning for the best Christmas ever, thanks to the Broncos’ profitable 7-2 mark against the spread. The boys from the blue turf have tackled spreads as high as 43.5 points this season and are looking at another large number in Week 12.

Boise State is handing the Fresno State Bulldogs 30.5 points at Sportsbook.com for this Friday’s showdown. The Broncos have won eight of the last 10 meetings with the Bulldogs, going 8-2 ATS in that span which includes three straight covers.

Fresno State is 6-3 on the year, boasting a 4-4-1 ATS record. The Bulldogs are coming off a tough loss to Nevada last Saturday, falling 35-34 on a late touchdown run, but managed to come away with the cash as 7.5-point underdogs.

Fresno State does holds value with this many points. Boise State has its most important conference game next weekend, versus Nevada, and could be looking ahead to that trip to the desert as well as its undecided future amongst the BCS bowls.

Boise State will also be without starting middle linebacker Byron Hout, who is out for the year with a broken foot. The junior is fourth on the team in tackles and would have been keying on Bulldogs stud running back Robbie Rouse, who has rumbled for over 500 yards and three touchdowns, along with 42 receiving yards and a score, in the last two games.

Here are a couple other great games this weekend:

Virginia Tech Hokies at Miami Hurricanes (+2.5, 50) at Sportsbook.com

The Hokies have been on a roll since losing their opening two games. They’ve won eight straight games, going 7-1 ATS, and face a Canes squad that will be without starting QB Jacory Harris.

Troy Trojans at South Carolina Gamecocks (-21.5, 58) at Sportsbook.com

Gamecocks head coach Steve Spurrier told reporters he won’t be letting up even though South Carolina has clinched a spot in the SEC title game. Don’t buy that for a second. The key to betting this non-conference matchup is figuring out if the Trojans’ starters are as good as the Gamecocks’ third stringers.

Nebraska Cornhuskers at Texas A&M Aggies (+2.5, 55) at 5Dimes.com

The Aggies could be the hottest team in the Big 12, winning four straight and covering the spread in each of those outings. The Huskers, who have also won four in a row (2-2 ATS) can clinch the Big 12 North title and stay in BCS title talks with a win. Texas A&M is great in College Station, going 7-3-1 ATS in its last 11 home games.
