College Football Week 14 Betting Preview
It’s conference championship week in college football which should sort out the always confusing College Football Playoff and the upcoming bowl matches.
The first title game on the schedule is Friday night, when the Stanford Cardinal and USC Trojans clash in the Pac-12 championship at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. At Bovada Sportsbook, the Trojans are a 4-point favorite as they go for their fifth straight win. USC is 3-1 against the spread during its winning streak, but only 3-7 ATS in the last 10. The Cardinal lost to USC 42-23 as a 4-point underdog in the regular season, and they’re 7-3 SU and 6-4 ATS in their last 10 versus USC.
In the SEC championship the Georgia Bulldogs face the Auburn Tigers as a 3-point underdog at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Georgia is 9-3 SU and 8-4 ATS in its last 12 versus Auburn, but lost to the Tigers 40-17 as a 2.5-point favorite earlier this season. The Tigers have won five straight at 3-1-1 ATS and they’re 5-0 ATS in their last five games in December.
The ACC championship pits the Miami Hurricanes against the Clemson Tigers as a 10-point underdog at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Clemson is 4-1 ATS in its last five against Miami and in December is 7-0 SU and 6-1 ATS in the last seven games. Miami is coming off a major upset loss to the Pittsburgh Panthers as a 12-point favorite, and is 2-6 ATS in the last eight games after losing as a favorite.
The Big Ten championship sees the Wisconsin Badgers face the Ohio State Buckeyes as a 6-point favorite at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The Badgers have won 13 straight at 8-4-1 ATS and they’ve won five straight ATS as an underdog. Ohio State has won five straight against Wisconsin at 4-1 ATS, but the Buckeyes are 1-4 ATS in their last five overall.
In the Big 12 title game it’s the Oklahoma Sooners versus the TCU Horned Frogs as a 7.5-point favorite at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The Sooners topped TCU 38-20 as a 6-point favorite in November and they’re 6-1 SU and 4-3 ATS in their last seven against them. The Horned Frogs are 3-3 SU and ATS in their last six as an underdog, and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games in December.
The Mountain West championship will be decided between the Fresno State Bulldogs and the Boise State Broncos. The Broncos are an 8.5-point home favorite, but they lost to the Bulldogs 28-17 as a 6.5-point favorite this season. The Bulldogs have won three straight SU and seven in a row ATS as the underdog.
In the AAC title game the UCF Knights are a 7-point home favorite versus the Memphis Tigers. The Knights have won 11 straight at 6-4-1 ATS, and they’ve won 10 in a row versus the Tigers at 6-4 ATS. Memphis is a disappointing 2-9 SU and 6-5 ATS in its last 11 as a road underdog.
