College Football Week 4 Betting Preview
The top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide get what could be considered their first real test of the season this week when they host the No. 2 Texas A&M Aggies.
Alabama is still heavily favored as a 25.5-point home favorite at Bovada Sportsbook. Alabama has won five straight against Texas A&M at 3-2 against the spread, and last season edged the Aggies 27-19 as a 25.5-point favorite. The Aggies head into this matchup having won four straight ATS and they’re 6-1 ATS in their last seven.
Getting the college football week started on Friday this week are the Washington State Cougars at the USC Trojans.
The Trojans are 4.5-point favorites at Bovada Sportsbook, but they’ve dropped six straight ATS after a 37-14 loss to the Texas Longhorns as a 3.5-point underdog. The Cougars upset USC 30-27 as a 5-point underdog last season and they’ve started this season 3-0 SU and ATS.
Sticking in the Pac-12, other conference matchups on tap this week include the Stanford Cardinal at the Oregon Ducks as a 1-point favorite and the Arizona State Sun Devils at the Washington Huskies as a 17.5-point underdog.
Stanford is a solid 6-2 SU and ATS in its last eight games, but the Cardinal’s recent road record could use some improvement, as they’re 2-3 SU and 0-4-1 ATS in their last five. Oregon has lost four straight ATS and at home has won six in a row SU at 3-3 ATS.
The Sun Devils were upset by the San Diego State Aztecs 28-21 as a 5-point favorite last week, dropping them to 2-9 SU and 4-6-1 ATS in their last 11 road games. The Huskies are 1-11 SU and 0-12 ATS in their last 12 vs the Sun Devils, but overall at home they’ve won nine straight at 5-4 ATS.
Ohio State big favorite to roll over Tulane
If you’re looking for a big spread this weekend, the Ohio State Buckeyes are a 35.5-point home favorite vs the Tulane Green Wave. Ohio State has won eight straight at home, but the Buckeyes are only 4-4 ATS, and when favored by 30-plus points they’re 13-0 SU and 5-8 ATS in their last 13. Tulane is 1-6 SU and 3-4 ATS in its last seven road games.
The TCU Horned Frogs and Wisconsin Badgers will both look to rebound from losses this week as road favorites.
TCU is a 3-point road favorite vs the Texas Longhorns. TCU fell to Ohio State 40-28 as a 12.5-point underdog last week. As a road favorite the Frogs are 6-1 SU and 5-2 ATS in their last seven. Texas has lost its last four SU and ATS vs TCU.
Wisconsin faces the Iowa Hawkeyes as a 3.5-point road favorite this week. The Badgers were upset by the BYU Cougars 24-21 as a 23.5-point favorite last week. That was the Badgers’ third straight loss ATS, but they’re 9-0 SU and 8-1 ATS in their last nine road games. The Hawkeyes are 6-1 SU and ATS in their last seven at home, but as a home underdog they’re 2-6 SU and 5-3 ATS in their last eight.
Finally, the Georgia Bulldogs are 14.5-point road favorites in an SEC matchup with the Missouri Tigers. Georgia is 7-1 SU and ATS in its last eight road games, and against the Tigers, the Bulldogs have won four straight while going 1-3 ATS. Missouri is 9-1 SU and 7-3 ATS in its last 10, but as a home underdog is 1-5 SU and 2-4 ATS in the last six.
