College Football Week 6 Betting Preview
There’s only one ranked matchup on the college football schedule this weekend, as the No. 23 West Virginia Mountaineers visit the No. 8 TCU Horned Frogs.
The Horned Frogs are a 13.5-point favorite at Bovada Sportsbook as they go for their fifth straight win. They haven’t been kind to bettors at home at 1-8 against the spread in their last nine games. The Mountaineers are 4-1 straight up and 3-2 ATS in their last five road games and 3-2 ATS in their last five against TCU.
The No. 1-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide are 27-point road favorites this week as they take on the Texas A&M Aggies. Alabama has won 11 straight as a road favorite while going 7-3-1 ATS. The Aggies have lost their last eight home games ATS and lost four in a row versus Alabama SU.
The No. 2 Clemson Tigers are on a 10-game winning streak at 7-3 ATS as they host the Wake Forest Demon Deacons as a 22.5-point favorite. Clemson has won eight straight against Wake Forest but is only 4-4 ATS during the streak. The Demon Deacons are a solid 5-1 SU and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games, and they’re 7-2 ATS in their last nine on the road.
In the Big Ten this week the No. 9 Wisconsin Badgers take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers as a 12-point road favorite. On the road the Badgers have won four straight SU and seven straight ATS. As a road favorite they’ve won 11 in a row at 8-3 ATS. Nebraska is 2-5 ATS in its last seven games, but 4-2 ATS in the last six versus Wisconsin.
The No. 4 Penn State Nittany Lions are 14-point road favorites this week versus the Northwestern Wildcats. Penn State continues to be a great pick for bettors at 12-1-2 ATS in the last 15 games. However, as a road favorite the Nittany Lions are only 3-8 ATS in their last 11. Northwestern has won its last two games against Penn State, both as the underdog.
The No. 7 Michigan Wolverines are a 10-point home favorite this week when they host the Michigan State Spartans. Michigan has won 10 straight at home while going 4-6 ATS. The Spartans have lost four in a row SU and ATS on the road, but they’ve dominated this matchup lately at 6-2 SU in their last eight and 9-0 ATS in their last nine versus the Wolverines.
If you’re looking for the biggest spread in the Top 25 this week, it’s the No. 14 USC Trojans as a 34-point favorite versus the Oregon State Beavers. At home USC has won 12 straight while going 8-4 ATS. The Beavers have dropped 15 in a row SU on the road while going 5-10 ATS.
