Earnhardt Jr Leading the Daytona 500 Odds
It's Dale Earnhardt Jr. that sits atop the odds to win the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway this weekend at online sportsbook Bovada as the drivers of the Sprint Cup Series prepare for Sunday's season-opening event.
Earnhardt Jr. sits as the +600 favorite on the Daytona 500 odds at Bovada, followed by Jimmie Johnson at +900, and each of Kevin Harvick, Joey Logano, and Matt Kenseth at +1000. Logano won the Daytona 500 last year, with Earnhardt Jr., Johnson, and Kenseth winning the race for the second time in their careers in 2014, 2013, and 2012.
Chase Elliott will start from the pole on Sunday, with the rookie sitting at +1800 on the Daytona 500 odds after he posted the fastest time in qualifying last weekend. The rest of the starting positions were decided by the two Duel events on Thursday.
Brad Keselowski, Denny Hamlin, and Kyle Busch are all at +1200 on the Daytona 500 odds at the sportsbook, with Busch winning the overall Sprint Cup last season ahead of Harvick, the now-retired Jeff Gordon, and Martin Truex Jr. Truex Jr. is at +1800 on the Daytona 500 odds for this weekend, tied with Kurt Busch and just behind the +1600 Carl Edwards.
Kasey Kahne (+2200), Kyle Larson (+2200), Jamie McMurray (+2800), and Austin Dillon (+3300) round out the middle tier of contenders for Sunday, with Ryan Newman at +4000, and each of Brian Vickers, Clint Bowyer, Greg Biffle, Ryan Blaney, Aric Almirola, David Ragan, Paul Menard, Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Danica Patrick, and Trevor Bayne at +5000.
Bayne was the surprise winner of the Daytona 500 in 2011, with McMurray winning in 2010, Kenseth in 2009, Newman in 2008, Harvick in 2007, and Johnson in 2006. Earnhardt Jr. visited Victory Lane at the Daytona 500 for the first time in his career back in the 2004 season.
And on the NASCAR futures at Bovada, Harvick enters the 2016 season as the +500 favorite on the odds to win the Sprint Cup championship, followed by each of Johnson, Logano, and Kenseth at +700. Kyle Busch is a step back at +800 on the odds to defend his title this year, with Keselowski at +900, and Earnhardt Jr. at +1000.
