Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 Betting Preview

The NASCAR Cup Series rolls into Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500.

Last week Brad Keselowski bested the field at Bristol Motor Speedway to post his second win of the season. Keselowski might be a solid pick for bettors this weekend as a +800 underdog at Bovada Sportsbook. He has won two of the last three Cup races at Atlanta, in 2019 and 2017. In 2018, he just missed another win when he finished second.

Streaking Keselowski has dominated in Atlanta

The favorite in this weekend’s race at Bovada is Kevin Harvick at +450. When Keselowski finished second in 2018, it was behind Harvick, who claimed his second career Cup Series win at Atlanta that season. Harvick heads into the weekend leading the Cup standings with one win and five top-five finishes on the season.

Following Harvick on the odds at Bovada are Chase Elliott at +600 and Kyle Busch at +650.

Elliott posted his first Cup Series win of the season last week at Charlotte Motor Speedway. He has four top-five and five top-10 finishes on the season, good enough to place him third in the Cup standings. At Atlanta he’s only cracked the top five once in four Cup Series races.

Busch continues to hunt for that elusive first win of the season. He’s come close several times with five top-five finishes, which includes a pair of second-place finishes. Busch has tasted success at Atlanta before with two career wins on the track, with his last coming back in 2013.

Five-time winner Johnson +1100 to top field

Other former race winners at Atlanta among this week’s field include Jimmie Johnson at +1100 and Kurt Busch and Denny Hamlin, both at +1400.

Johnson has five career Cup Series wins at Atlanta. His last came in 2016 as he posted the second of back-to-back victories, having also won there the previous year. Johnson remains a risky pick for bettors as he has only two top-five finishes this season and he hasn’t won a race since 2017.

Kurt Busch has three career wins at Atlanta, but it’s been a decade since he last visited victory lane in 2010.

Hamlin posted his lone win at Atlanta in 2012. Since then he’s cracked the top five at Atlanta only twice. Last week at Bristol, Hamlin topped all racers in laps led with 131, but it didn’t matter much in the end as he finished well back in 17th place.
