Super Bowl XLVIII turned out to be a super bust for Denver fans with Seattle cruising to a 43-8 blowout victory as a 2-point underdog on the 5Dimes closing line for the game. The total went OVER the closing betting line of 47.5 points.
Now that the football season is officially in the books, a good deal of the betting action will shift to both professional and college hoops. Starting in the NBA, a couple of interesting matchups on Monday night’s schedule have San Antonio on the road as a 4-point road favorite over New Orleans and Miami at home against Detroit as a 9.5-point favorite.
The Spurs are now three games in back of Oklahoma City in the Western Conference standings with a 5-5 straight-up record in their last 10 games. The Heat remain three games in back of Indiana for the lead in the East with six SU victories in their last eight games.
Later in the week as part of a Wednesday night doubleheader on ESPN, Portland will be on the road against New York and the Heat will head out west to face the Los Angeles Clippers. TNT’s Thursday doubleheader has the Spurs on the road against Brooklyn followed by Chicago against the Warriors at Golden State.
Turning to the hardwood in college play, Syracuse will be back in action on Monday against Notre Dame after its thrilling 91-89 overtime victory over Duke as a 4-point home favorite. The Orange have been listed by 5Dimes as 12.5-point home favorites against the Irish on its college basketball betting lines for this contest.
There will be several marquee matchups on Tuesday, including Missouri on the road against Florida in the SEC and Kansas on the road against Baylor in the Big 12. The only other undefeated team in Division I besides Syracuse will be back in action on Wednesday, when the 23-0 Wichita State Shockers travel to the Hulman Center to square off against Indiana State in a showdown between the top two teams in the Missouri Valley Conference.
This Thursday night in the Pac-12, the Arizona Wildcats will look to bounce back from their first loss of the season at home against Oregon. The Wildcats lost to Cal 60-58 this past Saturday as 6-point road favorites on the 5Dimes closing betting line.
