MLB Betting: Pitchers’ Duel Likely In Mets-Nats

Winners of the last three National League Cy Young awards face off Wednesday night when the Washington Nationals and New York Mets continue a four-game series in New York.

The scheduled pitching matchup Wednesday night is three-time Cy Young Award winner Max Scherzer (2-5, 3.72) for the Nationals and reigning Cy Young winner Jacob deGrom (3-5, 3.98) for the Mets.

Scherzer is coming off a loss against the Chicago Cubs in which he allowed three runs on six hits in six innings. Washington lost 12-9 as a -160 favorite at Bovada Sportsbook. He last faced the Mets on April 7 and pitched Washington to a 12-9 win as a -126 favorite after allowing four runs on eight hits in 6.1 innings.

In his last start, deGrom was roughed up by the Miami Marlins for seven runs on nine hits in five innings. The Mets lost 8-6 as -230 favorites. DeGrom faced Washington on March 28 and pitched six shutout innings in a 2-0 Mets win as a +110 underdog.

The Nationals are 2-7 in their last nine road games following a loss to the Mets on Monday. That win on Monday snapped a five-game losing streak for New York. However, at home the Mets have won four straight.

In 10 games between the Nationals and Mets this season, the teams have split five wins apiece. In those 10 games, the underdog has won six times.

Aces also feature in Brewers-Reds matchup

Also on tap Wednesday night, aces will be on the mound when the Milwaukee Brewers host the Cincinnati Reds.

The expected pitching matchup is Luis Castillo (5-1, 1.90) for Cincinnati and Zach Davies (5-0, 1.54) for Milwaukee.

Castillo allowed two runs on two hits in 5.1 innings in a win over the Cubs in his last start. The Reds won 4-2 as a +128 underdog. Castillo faced the Brewers on April 3 and took the loss despite allowing only one run on one hit in seven innings. The Reds lost 1-0 as a +120 underdog.

Davies is coming off a win over the Philadelphia Phillies in which he allowed three runs on four hits in six innings. Milwaukee won 11-3 as a +110 underdog. He faced Cincinnati on April 1 and posted a no-decision after giving up two runs on four hits in five innings. The Brewers won 4-3 as a -110 favorite.

Milwaukee began this series on a six-game winning streak at home. As a favorite, the Brewers had won eight straight. The Reds were 3-4 in their last seven, and 2-6 in their last eight as an underdog.

The Brewers swept a three-game set with the Reds earlier this season and they’re 7-1 against Cincinnati in their last eight.
