MLB Division Races Highlight Sports Betting Week
After a relatively quiet week in sports betting it is back to normal this week with a full slate of games on every day’s schedule. The sportsbooks have released their MLB odds for the openers of a dozen brand new series that start this Monday, and one of the top matchups on the list has the Cincinnati Reds on the road against the Milwaukee Brewers as +110 road underdogs on the moneyline.
The NL Central remains one of the most competitive divisions in baseball with the Reds (51-47) trailing both the Brewers and St. Louis by 2.5 games as of Sunday’s action. The division leaders are dead even at 54-45 on the year and Pittsburgh (52-46) is also in the mix at just a game and a half back.
The tightest division race in the American League is the AL East with Baltimore holding a three-game lead over both New York and Toronto. Tampa Bay and Boston also remain alive at 7.5 games back. The Orioles are on the road this week against the Los Angeles Angels as +120 underdogs for Monday’s Game 1 while the Yankees play host to Texas as heavy -170 favorites in that series opener.
The Red Sox and Blue Jays are poised to battle it out in Toronto for four games with Boston getting the edge in Monday’s opener as a slight -115 favorite, while the Rays will kick off a quick two-game interleague set against the Cardinals this Tuesday night at Busch Stadium.
One of the top MLB betting showdowns on tap for this upcoming weekend sends the Los Angeles Dodgers on the road against San Francisco. These two bitter NL West rivals are currently tied for the lead in the division heading into Monday’s action. Los Angeles is 55-45 on the year going into this week’s three-game series on the road against Pittsburgh, and the Giants (54-44) will be on the east coast as well for a four-game series at Philadelphia.
NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series was also off last week, but it will be back in action this Sunday in a big way with its annual race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Be sure to check Bovada for a complete set of betting odds as the weekend approaches.
And if you are looking to wager on some basketball, the WNBA returns to action this Tuesday after playing its All-Star Game over the weekend. Bovada has you covered with a full set of betting lines and totals for all the games.
