NBA Betting: Golden State a Weekend Warrior?
The Golden State Warriors have a busy weekend coming up with a Friday night date with the Houston Rockets and a Sunday matchup with the Orlando Magic.
The Warriors head into Friday’s matchup on a five-game winning streak. During the streak they’ve been crushing teams, outscoring their opponents 598-499 in the five wins. Despite that, they’re still only 3-2 against the spread in that span. They’ve also been a bad bet on the road lately at 1-7 ATS in their last eight road games.
The Warriors were victorious ATS in a 121-00 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder as a 15-point favorite on Wednesday. Houston is coming off a 111-92 win over the Milwaukee Bucks as a 6-point favorite. At home they’ve won seven of their last eight while going 4-4 ATS.
The one time Golden State and Houston met up this season the Rockets delivered a 132-127 upset win as 11.5-point road underdogs. Even with that loss the Warriors are 8-2 SU and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 against Houston.
Sunday’s matchup against the Magic looks like a blowout in the making. Orlando has lost three straight and they’re 1-8 SU and 3-5 ATS in their last eight. The Magic are also a disappointing 3-10 SU and 3-9-1 ATS in their last 13 at home. Against the Warriors Orlando has lost their last six, but they are 4-2 ATS.
The must-see game this weekend is on Saturday when the Cleveland Cavaliers play host to the San Antonio Spurs. Both teams are in action on Thursday night, with Cleveland taking on the Phoenix Suns and the Spurs facing the Denver Nuggets.
Earlier in the week the Spurs defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 122-114, but failed to cover the 12-point spread at the Bovada sportsbook. The Spurs are 9-3 SU and 8-4 ATS in their last 12 and lately have been a strong play for totals bettors picking the OVER with four straight OVER results and nine in their last 11 games.
The Cavaliers faced the Warriors earlier in the week and were embarrassed in a 126-91 loss as 9-point underdogs. Cleveland is slumping right now having lost three of their last four games. They’re also 1-7 ATS in their last eight.
This is the first meeting this season between the Spurs and Cavaliers after they split the season series last year 1-1. The home team won both matchups last season, but Cleveland was 2-0 ATS. Looking back further the Spurs have dominated at 11-2 SU and 8-5 ATS in their last 13 versus Cleveland.
