It could be a tough week for the New Orleans Pelicans. A day after it was learned star Anthony Davis wants a trade out of New Orleans, the Pelicans have a tough back-to-back against the Houston Rockets and the Denver Nuggets.
The Pelicans travel to Houston on Tuesday having lost three straight while going 1-2 against the spread. In the last six, New Orleans is 1-5 straight up and 2-3-1 ATS. It has also been horrible on the road lately at 3-10 SU and 5-7-1 ATS in the last 13.
The Rockets continue to ride the hot hand of James Harden in three straight wins SU, but they’re only 1-2 ATS. In the last six, Houston is 4-2 SU with a lame 1-5 ATS record. At home the Rockets haven’t been much kinder to bettors at 5-1 SU and 3-3 ATS in their last six.
The Rockets and Pelicans last met up on December 29 and Houston won 108-104 as a 3.5-point road favorite at Bovada Sportsbook. In their last seven vs the Pelicans, the Rockets are 5-2 SU and 3-4 ATS, and at home Houston is 7-1 SU and 5-3 ATS in its last eight against New Orleans.
New Orleans struggles in second of back-to-backs
On Wednesday the Pelicans will play host to the Nuggets. In back-to-backs this season, New Orleans is 5-3 SU and 2-6 ATS in the opener, and 1-7 SU and 2-6 ATS in the second half.
Denver faces the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night and entered that matchup 4-1 SU and ATS in its last five. On the road the Nuggets haven’t been as good lately at 3-7 SU and 2-8 ATS in their last 10. They’ve been money for totals bettors taking the OVER, with seven straight OVERs.
On November 17 the Pelicans defeated the Nuggets 125-115 as a pick’em at home. Despite that win New Orleans is 2-5 SU and 3-4 ATS in its last seven vs Denver. However, at home New Orleans has won two straight against the Nuggets.
Utah, Portland both on hot streaks
Also on tap Wednesday night is a Northwest Division clash between the Utah Jazz and the Portland Trail Blazers.
Utah heads into this one 9-1 SU and 5-4-1 ATS in its last 10. Portland is 5-1 SU and ATS in its last six, and at home the Trail Blazers have won seven straight at 6-1 ATS.
In three matchups between the Jazz and Trail Blazers this season, Utah is 2-1 SU and ATS. In its lone game in Portland this season, Utah won 120-90 as a 2-point underdog. In their last seven games in Portland, the Jazz are 2-5 SU and ATS.
