NFL Preseason Week 4 Odds and Trends

The NFL preseason concludes this week as favorites bettors hope the momentum gained in Week 3 continues. In Week 3, the favorites bounced back with a 9-7 record both straight up and against the spread. Through three weeks, that puts them at 26-22 SU and 22-24-2 ATS.

The entire Week 4 schedule is played on Thursday night starting with a battle of winless teams when the Atlanta Falcons visit the Jacksonville Jaguars. At Bovada Sportsbook, the Jaguars are a 4-point favorite.

The Falcons continue to be the NFL’s worst team in the preseason, having lost the Hall of Fame Game and three preseason matchups. Overall they’ve lost 12 in a row SU and 14 straight ATS in the preseason. They’ve also been a strong UNDER play at 12-3 UNDER in their last 15.

Jacksonville has lost three straight SU and ATS after falling to the Miami Dolphins 22-7 as a 1.5-point underdog last week. Playing at home hasn’t helped either, as the Jags are 2-6 SU and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight preseason games at home.

Last year in the preseason, Jacksonville defeated Atlanta 16-6 as a 4-point favorite. Overall, the Jaguars have won three in a row ATS vs Atlanta in the preseason, and they’re 8-2 SU and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 matchups.

Patriots favored over Giants in clash of undefeated clubs

Thursday night also includes a matchup between undefeated teams when the New England Patriots host the New York Giants as a 2.5-point favorite.

The Giants are 3-0 SU and ATS after edging the Cincinnati Bengals 25-22 as a 3-point underdog. They’re now 5-1 SU and ATS in their last six preseason contests. As a preseason underdog, the Giants are 6-1 ATS in their last seven and 13-3 ATS in their last 16.

The Patriots knocked off the Carolina Panthers 10-3 as a 3.5-point favorite last week to improve to 3-0 SU and ATS. They’re also 6-1 SU and ATS in their last seven.

Last year in the preseason, the Patriots upset the Giants 17-12 as a 2.5-point underdog. Despite the loss, New York is still 7-2 SU and 5-2-2 ATS in its last nine preseason matchups with New England.

Ravens have won 16 straight contests in preseason

Closing out our look at Week 4 is the Baltimore Ravens at the Washington Redskins as a 6-point favorite.

Baltimore defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 26-15 as a 5-point favorite last week to extend its preseason winning streak to 16 games. The Ravens are 14-2 ATS during their streak.

Washington got past Atlanta 19-7 as a 1.5-point favorite last week, but the Redskins are still 1-4 SU and ATS in their last five.

In 2018, Baltimore beat Washington 30-20 as a 5-point favorite. In their last seven vs Washington in the preseason, the Ravens are 6-1 SU and 5-2 ATS.
