NFL Week 1 Betting Odds Preview
The NFL season kicks off this week as bettors try to find the trends to spot some potential upsets in Week 1.
There are plenty of interesting matchups in Week 1 starting with a battle of divisional champs from last season when the Buffalo Bills host the Pittsburgh Steelers. At Bovada Sportsbook, the Bills are 6.5-point favorites.
Buffalo was 15-4 straight up last season and was also a solid 12-7 against the spread. At home, the Bills are 9-1 SU and 7-3 ATS in their last 10, which includes a seven-game winning streak during which they’re 5-2 ATS.
The Steelers started last season with 11 straight wins before losing five of their next six to finish 12-5 SU. For bettors, they were 10-7 ATS. Pittsburgh was 5-3 SU and ATS on the road last season, and the Steelers have been a smart bet as an underdog at 4-1 ATS in their last five and 13-3-1 ATS in their last 17.
Last season, the Bills defeated the Steelers 26-15 as a 2-point home favorite. Buffalo has won its last two games against Pittsburgh SU and ATS, but the Bills are 3-10 SU and ATS in their last 13 matchups.
Lawrence, Jaguars favored over Texans in Week 1
In a potential matchup of AFC South duds in Week 1, Trevor Lawrence makes his debut when the Jacksonville Jaguars visit the Houston Texans as 3-point road favorites.
Jacksonville was an NFL-worst 1-15 SU last season and 7-9 ATS. On the road, the Jaguars have lost nine in a row at 4-5 ATS, and they’ve been a disappointment when favored with a 2-7 record SU and ATS in their last nine.
Houston was 4-12 SU last season and 6-10 ATS. The Texans are 4-1 ATS in their last five as an underdog, but as a home underdog they’re 1-5 SU and 2-4 ATS in their last six.
Last season, Houston was 2-0 SU and 1-1 ATS vs Jacksonville. At home to the Jaguars, the Texans are 6-1 SU in their last seven but only 3-4 ATS.
Packers, Saints have gone OVER in 9 of last 10
The New Orleans Saints begin the post-Drew Brees era with a home game on the road this week when they face the Green Bay Packers as a 4.5-point underdog. This game will be played in Jacksonville due to damage in New Orleans caused by hurricane Ida.
Green Bay was 14-4 SU and 11-7 ATS last season. As a road favorite, the Packers have won four straight at 3-1 ATS, and they’re 8-2 SU and 6-4 ATS in their last 10.
New Orleans was 13-5 SU and 10-7-1 ATS last season. The Saints have been a strong underdog bet with a 5-1 SU record and a 5-0-1 ATS mark in their last six games.
Last season, the Packers defeated the Saints 37-30 as a 3-point road underdog. In nine of the last 10 matchups between the Packers and Saints, the final score has gone OVER the posted total.
