NFL Week 15 Odds

We’re all guilty of drinking the green Kool-Aid at least once this season.

For most NFL bettors, it started before the season even began with the HBO reality series, Hard Knocks. For others, the guzzling started following a 28-14 win over the New England Patriots at home in Week 2.

The New York Jets have sucked football fans into believing that they were the real deal. It doesn’t hurt to have a loud-mouth coach boasting about how good the team is, despite a schedule softer than new-fallen snow.

The J-E-T-S built up that fabrication with victories over cupcakes like Buffalo, Minnesota, Denver, Detroit, Cleveland, Houston, and Cincinnati. However, NFL handicappers have finally seen the man behind the curtain, thanks to the Patriots and, most recently, the Miami Dolphins.

New York, which is coming off back-to-back losses, is a 6-point underdog heading into Pittsburgh in Week 15. Heck, just a couple weeks ago, this would have been tagged as an AFC Championship Game preview. But after the Jets mustered just nine total points in the past two outings, bettors are deciding if six points is really enough.

The offense has been terrible, with quarterback Mark Sanchez mired in a nasty sophomore slump, while the defense, that ranked tops in the NFL last year, is a shell of its former self. You know you’re in trouble when your assistant coaches are making better tackles than the players.

Here are a couple other lines to watch this week:

Cleveland Browns at Cincinnati Bengals (-1, 40 at Bodog)

This battle for Ohio bragging rights is being overshadowed by the silly name tags given to the Big Ten’s new divisions. But can you really blame Ohio football fans for not giving a hoot?

The Bengals, who haven’t won since the last week of September, have no place being the betting favorite in this matchup. Sure the Browns are nothing to write home about, but at least they have a reliable option in Peyton Hillis.

Cincinnati is having to pick its poison between Cedric Benson’s snail’s pace with the football or Carson Palmer completing more passes to the opposing secondary.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Indianapolis Colts (-4.5, 48.5 at BetUS)

Colts backers are still smarting from that dirty little backdoor cover by the Titans last Thursday. And, with this line hovering around the no-man’s land of five points, those same bettors are thinking twice about playing Indy again in Week 15.

This is a very important game to Peyton Manning’s troops. However, Jacksonville is 5-1 in its last six games while posting a perfect 6-0 mark against the spread. Maurice Jones-Drew is unstoppable and already made monkeys of the Colts’ stop unit earlier this season.
