NFL Week 5 Betting Preview and Analysis
Tom Brady returns to the New England Patriots this weekend as they look to get back in the win column on the road against the Cleveland Browns.
With Brady returning the Patriots are a 10-point road favorite in this one at online sportsbook Bovada. New England is coming off their first loss of the season after getting blanked by the Buffalo Bills 16-0 last week as a 3.5-point favorite.
Cleveland remains winless on the season after a 31-20 loss to the Washington Redskins last week as a 7.5-point underdog. That loss was Cleveland’s seventh in a row straight up and they’re 2-5 ATS in those games. The Browns now have only one win in their last 15 games and a 3-11-1 ATS record.
New England is 6-2 SU and 4-4 ATS in their last eight versus the Browns and the last four between them have gone OVER the posted total. When listed as a road favorite the Patriots are a disappointing 1-4 SU and ATS in their last five games, while Cleveland is 0-7 SU and 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven as a home underdog.
Week 5 gets started on Thursday night with an NFC West clash between the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers. The Cardinals are off to a horrible start at 1-3 SU and ATS after losing to the Los Angeles Rams 17-13 as a 10-point favorite last week. They’re 2-5 SU and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games.
The 49ers have lost three in a row SU and ATS following a 24-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys as a 1.5-point home underdog. The 49ers have only one win SU and ATS in their last seven.
The oddsmakers at Bovada have listed Arizona as a 2.5-point road favorite. The Cardinals are 3-1 SU and ATS in their last four against San Francisco, but when they play on the road it’s a different story. In their last seven games at San Francisco the Cardinals are 1-6 SU and 2-5 ATS.
The undefeated Philadelphia Eagles are coming off their bye this weekend to face the struggling Detroit Lions. Detroit lost their third in a row last week, falling to the Chicago Bears 17-14 as a 3-point favorite.
The Eagles are 7-2 SU and 6-3 ATS in their last nine versus the Lions. As a home underdog the Lions are a lacklustre 1-7 SU and 3-5 ATS in their last eight games. Philadelphia sports a 4-3 record SU and 3-4 mark ATS in their last seven as a road favorite.
