NFL Week 8 Betting Odds Preview
After delivering a shocking upset last week, can the Carolina Panthers keep it going in Week 8 when they face the Atlanta Falcons as road underdogs?
At Bovada Sportsbook, the Panthers are 4.5-point underdogs. Last week, Carolina was a 13-point underdog in its 21-3 upset win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Despite that victory, the Panthers are only 2-12 straight up and against the spread in their last 14 games. That includes losing six straight on the road both SU and ATS.
The Falcons are coming off a 35-17 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals as 6.5-point underdogs. That snapped a six-game ATS winning streak for Atlanta. In their last nine games vs the Panthers, the Falcons are 7-2 SU and ATS.
Last season, Carolina and Atlanta split the season series 1-1 SU and ATS, with the road team winning both games.
Visiting Patriots favored to snap Jets’ winning streak
In the AFC East on Sunday, the New England Patriots are 1.5-point road favorites against the New York Jets.
The Patriots were 8.5-point favorites last week in a 33-14 loss to the Chicago Bears. On the road, New England is 2-5 SU and 2-4-1 ATS in its last seven, but as a road favorite the Pats are 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS in their last five.
The Jets have won four straight both SU and ATS after getting past the Denver Broncos 16-9 as 2-point favorites last week. The Jets are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 but have struggled as a home underdog, going 1-7 SU and 2-6 ATS in their last eight.
Last season, New England won both games against the Jets SU and ATS. Overall, the Patriots have won 12 straight against the Jets with an 8-4 ATS record.
Titans have covered only 2 of last 8 as road favorite
In the AFC South, the Tennessee Titans are 2-point road favorites vs the Houston Texans.
Tennessee has won four straight SU and ATS following last week’s 19-10 win over the Indianapolis Colts as a 2.5-point favorite. The Titans haven’t been the most reliable road bet at 2-4 ATS in their last six, and they’re 2-6 ATS in their last eight as road favorites.
Houston dropped to 1-4-1 SU and 3-2-1 ATS on the season with last week’s 38-20 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders as a 7-point underdog. In their last 10 at home, the Texans are 1-8-1 SU and 5-5 ATS. They were the underdog in nine of those games.
The Texans and Titans split the season series last year, but Houston was 2-0 ATS. In their last eight at home vs the Titans, the Texans are 7-1 ATS.
