Packers Enter 2015 as Super Bowl Favorite
With less than a week to go before the NFL season kicks off the Green Bay Packers are the Super Bowl 50 favorites on the Bovada NFL futures.
Even after losing No. 1 receiver Jordy Nelson for the season and heading into Week 1 with Randall Cobb hobbled, the Packers still lead the way at +550. The oddsmakers must think Aaron Rodgers is good enough to find anyone in the end zone; we should find out as Davante Adams tries to fill the big hole left by Nelson.
Sitting behind the Packers on the Bovada Super Bowl 50 futures are last year’s Super Bowl losers, the Seattle Seahawks at +650. Russell Wilson and his fat new contract continues to lead the offense and he’ll have a new toy to play with in Pro Bowl tight end Jimmy Graham.
Tough to tackle running back Marshawn Lynch will likely continue to pace the offense though, and he should get plenty of carries in the red zone following last year’s Super Bowl tragedy.
The first team from the AFC shows up next on the odds list and it’s not the defending Super Bowl champion New England Patriots. Instead, it’s the Indianapolis Colts, who the Bovada futures have listed at +850.
Andrew Luck appears to be on his way to being the top QB in the NFL, if he’s not there already. Indy loaded up on a few veterans in running back Frank Gore and wide receiver Andre Johnson to try and get them over the hump in the postseason.
Sharing the +850 odds slot are the new-look Philadelphia Eagles. Those are pretty good odds for a team that missed the playoffs last season and brought in a new quarterback and running back and said goodbye to their leading receiver.
If Sam Bradford can finally stay healthy, DeMarco Murray can maintain last year’s form, and someone steps forward in the receiving corps the Eagles could live up to the hype.
Finishing things up and rounding out the Top 5 are the Patriots at +900. Tom Brady had his suspension thrown out, so everything’s fine in Foxboro. With a veteran-heavy group of receivers that just added Reggie Wayne and the unstoppable Rob Gronkowski, Brady should be in fine form again.
