PGA Betting: BMW Championship Odds

The penultimate event of the FedExCup playoffs is on the PGA schedule this week, as the top 70 players in the standings head to Caves Valley Golf Club in Maryland for the BMW Championship.

Last week the FedExCup playoffs began with Tony Finau winning the Northern Trust. Finau shot 20 under par and defeated Cameron Smith in a playoff to post his first win of the season and vault himself to the top of the FedExCup standings.

Prior to the win, Finau’s best finish this season was second place at the Genesis Invitational in February and he had four top-10 finishes. At Bovada Sportsbook, Finau is a +2800 underdog to win again this week while Smith is listed at +2000 in the BMW Championship odds.

Rahm favored to repeat as BMW champion

The favorite at Bovada is Jon Rahm at +650. The U.S. Open champion came up short in the Northern Trust last week after shooting 18 under par to finish in third place. Rahm won the BMW Championship last year at Olympia Fields, besting Dustin Johnson in a playoff.

Following Rahm on the odds list at Bovada are Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa at +1600, and Smith, Johnson, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay, all at +2000.

Schauffele followed up his gold-medal performance in Japan by finishing tied for 46th in the WGC-St. Jude Invitational a few weeks ago, and tying for 16th last week at the Northern Trust.

Top contenders struggled at Northern Trust

Several top golfers struggled last week at the Northern Trust, including Morikawa, Johnson and Spieth. Morikawa and Johnson, who has won the BMW Championship twice, both missed the cut last week. Spieth finished near the bottom of the standings in 73rd place at 1 over par after a dreadful final round in which he shot an 8-over-par 79.

Thomas put together a solid showing last week and tied for fourth place. That was his first top-10 finish on the tour since March when he won the Players Championship. He previously won the BMW Championship in 2019 when it was held at Medinah Country Club.

Along with Rahm, Thomas and Johnson, there are a few other former winners of the BMW Championship in the field this weekend. They include 2018 winner Keegan Bradley (+10000), 2017 winner Marc Leishman (+15000), 2014 winner Billy Horschel (+10000) and 2012 winner Rory McIlroy (+2800). None of those victories took place at Caves Valley.
