PGA Tour Championship Betting Odds Preview
The FedExCup playoffs come to a close this weekend as a winner will be crowned in the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia.
Only the top 30 players in the FedExCup standings will be playing in Georgia this week, and this tournament also has starting strokes based on those standings. The leader in the standings is Scottie Scheffler, who’ll begin the tournament at 10 under par and is the tournament favorite at Bovada Sportsbook at +250.
Scheffler tops odds to win Tour Championship
Following Scheffler in the FedExCup standings and on the odds list at Bovada is Patrick Cantlay. He will begin the Tour Championship at 9 under par and at Bovada he’s a +400 underdog.
Cantlay is the defending FedExCup champion and he also won last week’s BMW Championship. At the BMW, he shot 14 under to beat Scott Stallings by a single stroke. In last year’s Tour Championship, he shot 21 under to finish one stroke ahead of Jon Rahm.
Rounding out the top five on the odds list at Bovada are Xander Schauffele at +700, Rory McIlroy at +1000 and Will Zalatoris at +1100.
Schauffele starting tournament at 6 under par
Schauffele is fourth in the Cup standings and will start the Tour Championship at 6 under. Last week in the BMW Championship, he finished tied for third place, three shots behind Cantlay. Schauffele won the Tour Championship in 2017 before the starting strokes format was introduced and before the winner of the tournament was guaranteed to win the FedExCup.
McIlroy is a two-time FedExCup champ, but he’ll need to make up some ground to win a third this week. He is seventh in the standings, which means he’ll start the Tour Championship 4 under par.
Back injury knocked Zalatoris out of BMW
Zalatoris is third in the standings despite being forced to withdraw from the BMW last week due to a back injury. If the injury doesn’t keep him out this week, he’ll start the Tour Championship at 7 under par. Zalatoris began the playoffs with a win in the FedEx St. Jude Championship.
The only other former Tour Championship winners in this week’s field are Jordan Spieth at +6600 and Billy Horschel at +15000.
Spieth won this tournament in 2015. He sits in 18th place in the Cup standings, which means he’ll start out at 2 under par.
Horschel won in 2014. He sits in 22nd place in the Cup standings and will begin the Tour Championship at 1 under.
