Redskins, Steelers both look to continue preseason success
Pittsburgh’s Mike Tomlin and Washington’s Mike Shanahan are not only two of the league’s top coaches during the regular season; both like to win during the preseason as well. The Pittsburgh Steelers are 19-7 SU in the preseason since 2007 under Tomlin, while the Redskins are 7-2 SU and 6-3 ATS in their last nine preseason games under Shanahan.
Washington is a 2-point favorite at home at 5Dimes on Monday night hosting the Steelers to wrap up Week 2 of the preseason. The Redskins kicked off their preseason with a 22-21 win over the Tennessee Titans, while Pittsburgh fell 18-13 to New York in Week 1. The Steelers have never finished worse than 3-1 SU in the preseason under Tomlin and are 9-4 SU and 8-5 ATS over their last 13 preseason games.
The Jacksonville Jaguars went just 2-14 SU in the 2012 regular season, and this preseason hasn’t given fans or bettors much hope for any kind of a turnaround in 2013. The Jaguars are 0-2 SU and ATS this preseason and have been outscored 64-16 over those two games. This Saturday they host the Philadelphia Eagles, who bounced back from a Week 1 preseason loss to New England with a win over the Carolina Panthers. The Eagles are 8-2 SU and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 preseason games.
The Los Angeles Dodgers have been MLB’s biggest money-maker over the last two months, cashing in at 42-9 SU in their last 51 games. They’ll likely be favored in all four of their contests against the lowly Miami Marlins in a four-game series starting this Monday in Miami. Bettors should like the -119 odds being offered on the Dodgers at 5Dimes for Monday night as Hyun-Jin Ryu takes the mound against Miami’s ace Jose Fernandez (+114).
Later in the week, the Oakland A’s visit the Baltimore Orioles for a three-game series starting on Friday. While Oakland is still in the hunt for the AL West title, this series could have serious implications on the American League Wild Card race with Baltimore currently sitting three games behind Oakland. Baltimore is 4-1 SU in its last five games against the A’s.
