Sports Betting Week: NBA Favorites Stumbling
The underdogs are 16-14 straight-up through the first 30 games of this year's NBA playoffs with a profitable 21-7-2 record against the spread as we head into the second week of postseason action around the league.
Starting in the East, the No. 1 Indiana Pacers head into Game 5 of their best-of-seven series against No. 8 Atlanta all square through the first four meetings. The Pacers have been listed as 7-point home favorites for Monday night’s contest.
No. 2 Miami has opened a 3-0 lead against No. 7 Charlotte and the Heat can close out their opening-round series with a win this Monday as 7.5-point favorites on the road. The series between No. 3 Toronto and No. 6 Brooklyn is tied at two games apiece heading into Wednesday’s Game 5. Another shocker in the East has been No. 5 Washington rolling to a 3-1 series lead over No. 4 Chicago. That series continues on Tuesday with the Bovada NBA betting odds favoring the Bulls by 4.5 points at home.
The San Antonio Spurs are the No. 1 seed in the West and they have had their hands full with Southwest Division rival Dallas in their opening-round series. They actually trail 2-1 heading into Monday night’s Game 4. The Spurs have been listed as 4-point road favorites in that matchup.
The No. 2 Oklahoma City Thunder will be back in action this Tuesday night as 6-point home favorites over No. 7 Memphis. The Grizzlies opened a 2-1 lead in that series, but the Thunder evened the slate at two games apiece with this past Saturday’s 92-89 win in overtime as 3-point road favorites on the closing NBA betting line.
The No. 6 Golden State Warriors will be on the road this Tuesday as 6.5-point underdogs in Game 5 of their series against the No. 3 Los Angeles Clippers. That matchup is all square at two games apiece. The No. 5 Portland Trail Blazers will look to eliminate the No. 4 Houston Rockets this Wednesday after taking a 3-1 lead in that series.
